Trail Blazer has a very cool 'plastic' intake on the Vortex series. I would have the intake checked out, or just replace it with a new one. Don't reccomend a used one since it was a common problem.
Is it possible the replacement engine has a water pump that turns the opposite direction from the original ? The thermostat has to be open to allow flow thru the radiator, have you tried running without a thermostat to check flow ?
Put the vehicle in park then turn it off, set the parking brake and start it up, release the break and the lights will stay off until you manually turn them on. hope this helps!
have you checked, cady, fuel tank, is it getting the right amount of gas and air? plugs and wires, go with general mantinence first then step up. i have a 85 s10 blazer that was a lemon off the lot but has over 300000 on it and it has the same prob i fix it tempurary by flipping the lid on the breather upside down so it gets more air
