Chassis/VIN Plate
Cherokee VIN plate is located on the offside of the bulkhead on riveted metal plate adjacent to bonnet hinge . The body/build plate is on the nearside of the bulkhead and displays a VIN repeat.

A secondary position can be found in a sticker format on the bottom inside of the passenger door.

In later Jeep models the VIN data plate can be located on the passenger or rear passenger door pillar

SOURCE: Hello I need to locate

Hi there,

The Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) plate is located on the:

Lower windsheild fence, near the left A-pillar (look for an aluminium build plate revited to the wall).

The VIN contains 17 characters, which is a personal I.D. for your vehicle.

Cheers,

My jeep grand cherokee year 2002 has no chasis number,is it possible it was made without it?i have already shipped the car but wherever they go to look 4 a spair part they say they want chasis no

There is no way the car would be made without a chassis number or so called VIN identification. Since 1986 all car manufacturers are required to have the VIN in printed into the body where before they could have it on a plate, since 2000 many cars have their VIN on a small plate on the bottom of the front windscreen. have a close look around the engine bay for the VIN number on a plate or on the body itself. Or if you cannot get it just get someone to plug the diagnostics computer and you might get it this way unless the computer was erased before.

2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee limited 4.7 speedometer flips around when headlights are on bad, and rarely when they are not on.

Sounds like a "bad" earth on the dash head unit. Also check enging to chassis earths, gearbox to chassis, battery to chassis etc.
