SOURCE: Replacing my headlamps on my 96 Chevy Tahoe

On a 99 Tahoe Don't remove the grill.. There are two 6 inch long, hex head, vertical screws protruding from the frame above the headlight. To unscrew use a small hex socket.. maybe 1/4 inch. Turn the screws counterclockwise to remove till loose then pull up. The screws serve as a linch pin to secure the headlight to the mounting bracket. Here's a pic of the driver side light. Also, I had very good results with my park light lenses in 5 minutes with a hand drill, a soft buffing pad, and some fine polish. They were yellow and dull and looked clear and white when done. I washed the inside of the lense with soapy water and a soft toothbrush.. it made a big difference.fcb90cc.jpg

Replace rt side (psg) front headlaight assembly, for a 97 cadilac deville.

pull upward on black cover above headlamp assy. (marked pull here for headlamp service) you will then see on the front side a large bolt above the lamp assembly that holds it to the front of the car. it is a 10MM socket you will then need to remove a similar bolt on the top and bottom on the center front of the car where the assembly bolts up to the sheet metal. on the corner near the cornering lamp is a star shaped head bolt. (looks like star of david) you will need another small metric socket to remove this. this will free up the cornering lamp from the headlamp assembly. gently pull forward and away from headlamp assembly. remove both light pig tails by gently twisting on pigtails. you will then see 2 nuts which are also 10mm remove these and gently pull forward on entire headlamp assembly. you will need needle nose pliers to compress the head of plastic retaining tabs on headlight and signal light pig tails where they are held into the headlamp assembly. gently twist hi-low beam sockets free of the headlamp assembly then do like wise with the signal lamps. to install reverse procedure as above. note: the side with the cornering lamp has a tab that must fit back into tab-hole in front sheet metal of the front fender.
