No fuel going to carburetor ??? Your vehicle should have fuel injection ,not a carburetor . Is the SECURITY light lit on the instrument cluster ? Anti-theft system will keep fuel injectors from firing , or if there isn't any spark at the spark plugs the crankshaft position sensor could be bad . The PCM - engine computer will energize the fuel pump relay for two seconds to prim the fuel lines an the fuel rail for the injectors . After that it won't unless the engine is cranking over , an the PCM see's an input from the crankshaft position sensor . Your best , take it to a qualified repair shop.

The fuel pressure regulator is located under the intake plenum attached to the six in one fuel injector. They leak quite often causing hard start conditions. The injector is also known as a spider injector which will come with the regulator .

sounds alot the the pcm it controls the fuel pump and ign system but the anti theft would keep it from starting because the key has a transponder in it programmed for that vehicle and that would kill all ign if triggered

Are you one of those people who TOP OFF the tank when filling up?

When the EVAP recovery system soak with few ounce of gasoline......the trap vapor will take few days escape.

EVAP system is design to handle fuel vapor. Few ounce of gasoline can damage the fuel vapor recovery relay and decrease the service live of the recovery lines.

=========

You can accelerate the process by locating the charcoal canister (near the nose of the car and same side as your gas filler door)

MOVE the car to outdoor.

Disconnect the EVAP line and let it air out by itself.

DO NOT introduce any heat source or fan to speed up the process.

Reconnect this EVAP hose and use a small amount of starting fluid at the intake manifold.

Getting my car started

If the vehicle is getting fuel and spark and has decent compression it should start. You may have an issue with the injectors not working causing a no fuel supply to the engine. Does the check engine light come on during a bulb check? The injectors are normally fused and are usually under the fuse marked ECM or Ecm A or ECM B. It is also possible the vehicle may be flooded for some reason or another. You can try holding your foot to the floor ( this will shut off injectors) while cranking the engine to clear out a flooding situation

Will not start i think it;the fuel filter wwould that be inthe gas tank?

Your fuel pump may be, not the filter though. Try checking on the passenger's side. You shoulod see gas lines going by. Just follow them back dow toward the trunk and you will find your filter. Do you know if your fuel pump is kicking on? You should hear a buzzing for a second or two after you turn the key. You need to check and see the fuel pressure to the engine. It may not be a problem with the car. It could be sensors to the ignition, cam sensor and crank, or spark plugs/coils, wires, distributor. You need to check for spark also.

I think the fuel pump is shot in a 2000 oldsmobile bravada the vehicle turns over and has good battery power however is acting like it is getting no fuel. how do I replace it. or is there something else...

I would start by spraying starting fluid in the air filter. If it starts then you will know for sure it is a fuel problem. A way you can check the fuel pump is take off the gas cap. Have someone listen where the cap was. Turn the key to the on position and the person listening should hear the fuel pump run for about 5 seconds. If it doesn't run it could be the fuel pump relay which is under the hood on the driver side. You can swap it for the one next to it temporarily. But 98% of the time it is the fuel pump. You have to drop the fuel tank. It is held up by 2 straps. And the fuel pump is in the top of the tank. You have to turn a retainer ring half a turn to get the pump out. Be sure to get the filter on the new one really good. It will ruin the new pump the first time you start the car. It will **** up dirt off of the bottom of the tank.

Hope this helps you! Please vote! Thanks!

I am having problems starting my 2000 Olds Bravada in cold weather, even only 11-20 degrees. I have to pump the gas pedal in order for the vehicle to start, after a few tries. I can hear the pump working...

The pump is supposed to stop when the fuel rail has enough pressure so the 5 sec. thing is normal.Sounds like you need a throttle position senser replacement.

Your problem is the fuel pump pressure check valve is defective, this is part of the fuel pump and the fuel pump is located in the fuel tank. Have the fuel pump replaced.

Please stop using the starting fluid, it is terrible for your engine- use choke cleaner if you need to do this in the future again. you can run it on choke cleaner indefinately if needed.
It sounds like your fuel pump quit on ya. When you turn the key to the "run" position do you hear the pump run in the tank for 3-5 seconds? you should. The fuel pump is in the gas tank and the tank has to be removed to acess it.
you can remove the coil wire from the coil and check to see if the coil is firing a spark. crank the engine with the wire off. make sure there is no starting fluid or choke cleaner fumes around before you do this-k? Carefull not to let it shock you. if it is sparking then you should check the fuel pressure. it should be 60psi while cranking the engine. you will need a fuel pressure guage to do this.
Good luck........Scott
