the level float could have sunk or fell to the bottom of the tank.it could also be caught on something.the wiring should be checked for powers and grounds for the fuel level sensor and any corrosion at the plug on the tank.

it would have a cam belt and needs replacing every 60000, failure to do this could result in major engine damage
