Your blowing oil --valve seals could be the problem or a bad valve.

Lost power and Black smoke:

You have a Failed MAP Sensor and / or the vacuum line is off or cracked.

The ECU thinks the engine is under full load and is getting all the fuel it can to the engine.

SOURCE: ford focus 2006 1.6 tdci lack of power , white smoke when at about 3200 revs ?? can anyone help !!!

White "smoke"? It's probably steam, which is coming from coolant in the comustion chamber. You're most likely looking at a blown head gasket or a cracked head.

Hi should my 2014 450 sxf blow a black ish kind of smoke when revved an on down rev a bluey black smoke think its called blow by? And what should I do to fix it? Could it just be a spark plug? Thanks

is yours the 2 stroke model or 4 stroke model ? 2 stroke model they do burn oil so it would be blue/black smoke, 4 stroke should be gray/blue color, if 4 stroke model it could be the timing is out a bit or the spark plug is not set right. or weak dispak. it can also be the fuel to air mix is out of alignment.

Sep 20, 2014 - Hello I've just bought a 2007 tdci 2.5 ranger and it has a constant knock, I don't think it's bottom end, I'm hoping it's a tappet as the nock is. ... Never work on that engine but on other engines if you disconnect 1 fuel injector ... off and adjusted them to the correct gap also made no difference, I'm at a loss now ...

WONT REV ABOVE 3000 RPM

Check the exhaust is not blocked if you hear a hissing sound out back that could be the problem, you can loosen it off at manifold its a good test, possibly a blocked convertor.

How much should my Ford ranger 2.5td be smoking,is it normal for diesel engens to smoke.

Sometimes diesel engines will put out black smoke under extreme acceleration. Other than that, they shouldn't smoke. Black is excess fuel, White smoke is water and bluish is oil. White smoke on a cool morning is not necessarily a sign of a problem unless it happens every time you start it through a warm day. Hope this helps.
