1994 k1500 suburban interior lights flash for 90 seconds if you open a door while the motor is running. Whats up?

I think this may be the "closer" motor continuously trying to gain a positive latch--and unable to do so. This could be from a damaged latch switch.

The sliding door has three motors, a slide motor, a release (or unlatch) motor, and a closer (or latching) motor. The open door light and interior lights coming on seem to indicate that the "closed and latched" switch is sometimes open-- allowing the closer motor to continue to operate.

Another possibility is that the dent has changed the geometry of the door mechanism especially the draw of the pull cable. The slide motor has a sensor that pulses when it runs. The door management controller counts the number of pulses of the slide motor sensor to determine when the door is fully closed and then stops the slide motor. At that point, the closer motor operates to latch the door. If the cable geometry has changed, the door controller may be shutting off the slide motor prematurely and the closer motor cannot complete the latch.

Open the gate or doors, and there are a couple screws on the interior side of the brake light housings. By the way, my old 94 burb had a problem where i had to HOLD the shift lever up when in reverse for the back up light switch to turn on... could be that too

pull door panel off and reattach 'linkage'.

Take The Driverside Control panel Off The Door,And Check Conection On The Main Switches,These Vehicles Have Locks On Them, And If They get loose The Stop Working,Also Check The Little Switch Towards The Front of Panel,It Also May Be Loose,Use Caution,The Clips Are Fragile..

try changing the door jam switches,one or all of them lost their ground.When the doors are closed the switches ground and the lights go out.If they are on a timer device the timer may be defective.

It could be a loose ground connection; and there are plenty of them so just start looking around for loose or corroded, disconnected wires.

might b but try tightning the battery turminals to if its not getting a good conection it will turn on ur lights or dim them if there on . happens every once in a while . other than that if it dosent work try the modg.

problem solved after cleaning the light sensor but the problem of twilight sentinel always exist , so if the twilight on the way of MAX the lights will remain 90 seconds ON but if i open the door and the interior lights will go on so the exterior lights will go OFF , what might be the problem?
