SOURCE: changing spark plugs 2003 Impala 3.4 eng. i.e. removing and reinstalling upper intake manifold
I have a 2003 chevy Impala and it's not so difficult. Try using a small ratchet that fits in the palm of your hand, I can't remember what it is called. To install the plugs use an extension and put a couple of the card board pieces from one of the spark plug boxes in between the new spark plug and the spark plug puller socket, this will hold the new plug in place while you work with the extension. When screwing in the plug you will have to go by feel so move the extension back and forth like a light jiggle while turning to avoid cross threading the plug. After the plug is tightened attach the ratchet and slightly torque into place.

You could be right but before going to all that trouble of replacing the intake gasket take a close look at the MAF (Mass Air Flow) sensor. Also look for a vacuum leak downstream of the MAF sensor. The MAF sensor may be dirty especially if you are using an "oiled" air filter and it was over oiled. Remove the MAF sensor and clean it with electronic cleaner. Make sure it is dry before reinstalling. If it is damaged, replace it. Also replace the fuel filter as a partially clogged filter has been know to set this code on some vehicles. Check all vacuum hoses and replace as necessary.
