Have a 1993 katana 600cc. Hard time starting up. New fuel hoses. New battery. Will drive fine once started. But once I turn it off it hard to start then power loss when it starts. It will bog for a little then gain power. Is it because I use gas that doesn't have high octan.

Have you checked the fuel pressure. If not, start there. Did you check the inline fuel filter. About your lights: Check your negative battery post. Clean the post and the attaching cable end. Obviously you are having an intermittent ground.

the first thing that i recommend doing is replacing the fuel filter that is a very common symptom of a clogged fuel filter. the second thing if the fuel filter replacement has no effect is replacing the fuel pump. but it is definitely a fuel issue. for any info. on replacing either part just comment back. good luck.

Is it a vortec engine if it is your fuel injector may be the problem. Chevy ran one injector on the vortech engine it is under the upper intake manifold, it has 6 plastic hoses running to each cylinder under the manifold. if one of these hoses are leaking its dumping raw fuel into the manifold during hot soak. that fuel is getting picked up by intake air when trying to start. and flooding it out hence hard to start. gasoline evaporates rather quick so what fuel was in the manifold when you park for the night has evaporated by the next morning so no raw fuel for intake air to pick up easy start. Seen this problem many times. pretty easy fix but a bit pricey around $200

Check the primary and secondary resistance on your coil, also check the resistance of the plug wires and verify the spark plug gap.

Sounds like your fuel pump is going out on you. Check your fuel pressure. You should have 40 psi when the key is in "on" position. You should have no less than 5 psi under that when it's running.
