Engine has 1 coil pack per cylinder instead of one and a distributor. Pack is connected directly to spark plug. One bolt and one connector on each pack, do a search for part to see it

SOURCE: 2003 grand am 3.4 code p0304

More likely a plugged injector as that code is specific to cylinder # 3 These engines are also very prone to failed intake manifold gaskets and stuck valve lifters. I think I'd start with a compression test, if that's good, go injector. If the compression is bad, you've got a can of worms. Hold off on the O2, I don't think it's related.

SOURCE: I need to change the coil on the 7th cylinder on

Lincoln had a problem with the cylinder coils. I am sure you have fixed yours already, but in the future if you run into the same problem, call your local dealer, they replaced 2 in my 2004 free of charge.

SOURCE: 2003 grand marquis with misfire code p0316

The first problem you have is assuming that the ignition coil is the only thing that can cause a misfire.

Diagnostic Test Code (DTC) P0316 is a "continuous memory only" code that indicates that there is a fault causing a misfire during the first 1000 revolutions of the crankshaft immediately after engine start-up. This should be accompanied by the regular cylinder misfire monitors (Codes P0301 through P0310) unless the misfire does not continue long enough for the regular misfire monitors to determine which cylinder is misfiring.

In order to determine what is actually causing the problem, you must have access to a scan tool that can perform Key On Engine Off (KOEO) fault testing and Key On Engine Running (KOER) fault testing as well as interfacing with the onboard engine computer to read live data and perform system tests.

Please note that generic OBD code readers DO NOT have the capabilities to do what you need to diagnose this problem. You will most likely get additional DTCs that can help lead you to find the source of the problem when KOEO and KOER tests are run. Generic OBD code readers can access only continuous memory DTCs.

Possibilities/conditions/systems that can cause this code are:
>Camshaft Position Sensor
>Low fuel: less than 1/8 tank
>Stuck open EGR Valve
>Blocked EGR passages
>Ignition system
>Fuel Injectors
>Fuel injector control circuits
>Running out of fuel
>EVAP canister purge valve
>Fuel Pressure
>Evaporative emissions system
>Base engine (mechanical) problems

How do I find out weather my 1997 mercury G.M. is the one with the police package

Info is a little fuzzy, but here are some solid clues.
The 6th and 7th digits of the VIN should be 71 or 72 if it is a police or taxi model.
It should have a certified 140 mph speedometer and full set of gauges like the Crown Vic.
Very few Grand Marquis models were built with the 71 or 72 package because Grand Marquis was not sold to fleets like Crown Vics were.
I would be surprised if you found a hand full of any year after 1995 in the USA still on the road. The 2003-2004 Marauder would be the exception but they are rare too.

2003 mercury grand marquis misses when warm

How many mi sense last tune up. If around 100,000 plugs and wires should be changed. If it has the the 4.6 they have 2 coil packs. These can short out. Also the EGR valve can stick open causing a small vacuum leak. These can be cleaned sometimes to fix a miss.

How to change spark plugs?

on top of the engine lies coil packs, maybe 4 of them on your vehicle--you need to unplug them and pull them out of the socket. You will then need a tool that is long enough, about 10 inches long, to unscrew the spark plugs which are located in the holes from which you removed the coil packs.

On a 2000 Mercury Marquis, do you need to remove

The fuel rail can stay in place. Loosen the 7mm headed screw that secures the coil pack and loosen and rotate the coil out. The rubber part of the coil allows enough movement to get it around the fuel rail.
