Check to be sure if the vacuum is connected from the engine to the shifter switch is connected and that you're getting vacuum from the switch to the front differential. No vacuum to the differential diaphragm, no 4x4 front action.

SOURCE: 98 Chevy K1500, four wheel drive floor shifter won't engage.

I had the same problem with my 98 z71, I put the floor shifter in neutral, and let the truck roll backwards a little bit, BE CAREFUL, with the floor shifter in neutral the truck will roll, regardless if the shifter on the steering column is in Park, use caution, make sure there is no one around your truck and you are inside of it and out of the path of doors and tires,

SOURCE: i am hookin up shifter on floor of my 85 silverado and cann't get

There should be two more wires. One should go to the starter solenoid and the other should only be hot with the key in the start position, and originates at the ignition switch on the column under the dash. Don't remember for sure but I think it's either a heavy red or purple wire.

SOURCE: My air is blowing from the floor vents and not the front vents on my 1991 cadillac brougham and the electronic climate control is not working. The light is on but indicater don't show any readings.

You may need to replace the climate control module, they are not made anymore but you may be able to get your rebuilt. Do a Google search for repair centers.

My 2006 Ford fusion does not release the key from the ignition when it's in park???

You have a problem with THE SHIFT INTERLOCK SYSTEM !

The floor shifter assembly:

  • locks the transaxle range selector lever in the PARK position when the ignition switch is in the LOCK position.

  • requires the transaxle range selector lever to be in the PARK position to turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.

PINPOINT TEST A: THE SHIFT INTERLOCK SYSTEM DOES NOT RELEASE/LOCK CORRECTLY

A1 TEST THE BRAKE LIGHTS

  • Apply the brake pedal and view the brake lights.

  • Do the brake lights illuminate?

Yes

GO to A2 .

No

REFER to Section 417-01 .

A2 TEST SHIFT INTERLOCK ACTUATOR POWER CIRCUIT

  • Disconnect: Floor Shifter Harness Connector C3245.

  • Key in ON position.

  • Measure the voltage between floor shifter harness connector C3245-1, vehicle harness side and ground, while applying the brake pedal.

Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?
A3 TEST SHIFT INTERLOCK ACTUATOR GROUND CIRCUIT

  • Key in OFF position.

  • Measure the resistance between floor shifter harness connector C3245-4, vehicle harness side and ground.

Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?

Yes

INSTALL a new selector lever. Refer to Selector Lever in this section.

No

REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.

I have a 2006 Ford Escape Limited w/ auto transmission. I just replaced the alternator and all on a sudden the backup light stopped working. I am not sure it has anything to do with Alternator. I was told...

Back up light switch is located in the shifter area. remove cover ,you will see the switch where the shifter hits the switch to cause the lights to work.

Problems shifting out of park in 2006 Lincoln navigator

Usually this is caused by the circuit board which is part of the bezel.Ford has a technical service bulletin out on this. Here is a copy of the TSB

TSB 06-2-3
FLOOR MOUNTED SHIFTER STUCK IN PARK

Publication Date: January 13, 2006

LINCOLN: 2005-2006 Navigator

ISSUE: Some 2005-2006 Navigators may exhibit the floor shifter stuck in Park due to an electrical system concern or by damage from liquid intrusion.
ACTION: Follow the latest online Workshop Manual diagnostics in section 307-05. If diagnostics lead to an inoperative brake shift interlock circuit board which may have been damaged due to liquid intrusion. The brake shift interlock circuit board is located on the bezel. Replace only the bezel assembly, current service parts contain all liquid diverter design changes. Do not replace the entire shifter assembly.

NOTE: DAMAGED CAUSED BY LIQUID INTRUSION IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE NEW VEHICLE LIMITED WARRANTY.

It will start but it stuck on park it's 2006 ford fusion

lawrence aud, You dont offer much detail but it sounds like you have a shift solenoid problem. This is a safety device that will not let you shift gears until you apply the brakes. Have someone check and see if you have brake lights. If not then you have to replace the brake light switch. The shift solenoid is also controlled by this switch. If this is the case, what you can do to move the vehicle is to disconnect the brake light switch and jump the wires with a piece of wire or a paper clip. This will allow you to move the vehicle but the brake lights will be on constantly. If you have brake lights then the shift solenoid itself is faulty. This can be found in the center console by the shifter if the shifter is on the floor between the seats. If shifter is on the cloumn then the solenoid is in the colunmn. Good luck with this.

How do i replace the plastic handle on my automatic shifter for my ford f150 2006 lariat

I assume you have a console floor shifter...You may need to pull shifter all the way back to low gear to see...look near the bottom on the back side of the handle...you should find a removeable screw or pull out clip...after removing this, the handle should lift off...New handles are roughly $35. at your Ford dealer...or they are plentiful in your nearest salvage yard...Hope this helps.

2006 bmw 325i won't start shows steering wheel with lock on it on display. slow to start yesterday. lights, radio work. tried charging battery without any luck

f this is a floor shifter or center console shifter there is actually a lock release next to the shifter. Look next to the shifter handle and you should see a small square plug in the console remove the plug and you will see a little white button in it this is the shifter release push it and you can move the shifter.
