My chevy 2006 hhr has the key stuck in the ignition and has no power to anything, although the battery shows it has 12.9 volts. HELP stranded

Which fuse box is this 60 amp fuse located in ? Under hood in engine bay ?

I see one 60 amp fuse in that fuse /relay box , EPS

Electronic Power Steering (EPS) Control Module , Why is this an issue with Chevy HHR'S ? where did you read this ? Fuse's don't go bad an don't blow for no reason , fuse's blow because of a electrical short circuit . Somewhere the wiring that fuse is suppose to protect is touching ground - metal on the body of the vehicle or somthing with the electric power steering system is a miss.

Whay do you say this ,My battery seems to go out around the same time as the fuse? Have you replaced the battery when this fuse blows ?

You need to under stand the electronics involved , serial data networks specifically . With a module , the electronic power steering module in your case going off line because of that blown fuse ,will disrupt serial data communications . Modules won't talk , information from the BCM - body control module to the PCM/ECM engine computer for starting won't happen .

This is why the people that changed your starter did that , they have no clue what happens when you turn the key to start . Suggest you find a better class of technician to take your vehicle to.

Circuit Description
Moving the ignition switch to the START position signals the body control module (BCM) through discrete inputs from the ignition transducer that engine crank has been requested. The BCM verifies that theft is not active and sends a serial data message to the engine control module (ECM) requesting engine start. The ECM receives a 12-volt signal from the park/neutral position (PNP) switch or clutch pedal start switch notifying that it is safe to start the engine. There is a splice on this circuit in the fuse block-underhood that supplies power for the CRANK relay coil. The starter relay coil control circuit is then grounded by the ECM closing the switch in the CRANK relay suppling 12 volts to the S-terminal of the starter. Ground is supplied through the engine block. For remote vehicle start (RVS) information refer to Keyless Entry System Description and Operation in Keyless Entry.

The electric power steering (EPS) system reduces the amount of effort needed to steer the vehicle. The system uses the body control module (BCM), power steering control module (PSCM), torque sensor, discrete battery voltage supply circuit, EPS motor, serial data bus, and the instrument panel cluster (IPC) message center to perform the system functions. The PSCM, torque sensor, not the EPS motor are serviced separately from each other or from the steering column. Any EPS components diagnosed to be malfunctioning requires replacement of the steering column assembly, also known as the EPS assembly.

EPS Motor
The EPS motor is a 12-volt brushed DC reversible motor with a 61-amp rating. The motor assists steering through a worm shaft and reduction gear located in the steering column housing.

Check blower relay and check fuse power under hood for 12 volt reference. Check to see if relay engages when blower is turned on, if not pull relay and see if second art of junction has proper ground and power. Also check to see if switch side is transferring voltage to relay to engage relay. The relay is designed to relay power to an device so switch assembly does not burn out.

possibly shifter interlock solenoid stuck.

To eliminate the battery have a load test done to check the cell conditions. I suspect that it may be an immobiliser problem from the key issue.

remove the rear seat ; if needed; crawl to the back of the hatch and release the hatch lock from inside using a blade screwdriver or, have a locksmith at the dealer make a new key by code using your vin number

Not a thing. Your computer got a glitch. You may end up replacing your computer because you don't fix them.

You are going to need to recalibrate the remote to the vehicle. As long as the remote works correctly which i think it should. It will actually tell you how in the owners manual. I am not current with the HHR as i have not worked on one yet. They must be reliable!

Have the alternator checked,it should read,at the battery with the engine running,13.65 volts to 14.25 volts,with the headlights on,and the ac on high blower.

possible low battery......... have it charged or jumpstarted
