Unfortunately, the website I found says there is no on-board method of programming your car for a new key-fob. You have to take the car to a dealer or to a key-maker (who may only charge half as much as the dealer)
It really depends if the car was well maintained.. Exchanging all fluids when scheduled - etc.. In most cases - cars are not maintained properly..
If you just got the car & dont know the maint history - 81-k is a time to exchange ALL the fluids.. ALL the trani fluid (not just a pan drop) break fluid, power stearing etc.. This is what keeps things running the way they should & prevents leaking etc..
If maintained well with regular tune-ups etc - you could get over 200-k out of it..
However - that car has allot of whistles & bells which means there is more to go wrong too..
