Also check starter relay.
Replace the broken wire.
Really sounds like the broken wire is to the neutral safety switch. Everything else will work properly but the starter will not engage...so nothing happens. I would check that.

Sounds like it has jumped timing, dont know which engine you have so could be chain or belt.

Squirt starting fluid in intake and try to start if it starts and then dies you have a fuel delivery problem. Make sure you check the fuses for a blown fuse namely fuel pump or fuelpump relay. If it doesnt start after squirting starting fluid in the intake check for spark at the plug wires and coil.

there should be a slot for each wire on back of ignition play with them till you get it right cant hurt anything

hit the bottom of the gas tank in the middle with a hammer while cranking the motor.trust me fuel pumps are very common on chevys,if it starts ,replace the pump. fuel pressure is like 52lbs.
If these wires are properly attached, then check for power and/or damage to wires. The secondary will only energize when the ignition switch is engaged, so you'll need help (test when not attached to starter).
