Bwm 318i 1990 engine m40 hunting periodically on startup

Hi , i own a BWM 318i 1990 and my engine is hunting on startup. At doesnt do it all the time , more like once per month or so. I ve tried all the typical solutions like replacing the idle valve but still from time to time its hunting. This problem persists over 8 years and still no solution . Any ideas or common experience to share?

I had the same on a customers car, 5 years and $$$ in a dealer later I was given a shot, the factory mis fitted a manifold gasket and it was sucking in air, I used a length of screenwash pipe to listen under the inlet manifold and found it.

I have a 1999 318i saloon and need to get access to the boot. I have lost my keys although the window is down. Can I fold down the rear seats to get access

boot = trunk.
does not all BMW, have a lever that opens trunk from inside car?
and if you cant just tilt down the rear seat. then you cant.

find the lever. on some cars is near drivers seat other dash ,and others glove box lever.
I dont have BWM books.
but the glove box operators guide covers this, did you lose that too?

2005 BMW M3 battery not holding charge, intermittently dead

install a battery tender this will mantain the voltage in the battery these work great and will not harm battery or car

    Own a 2005 BMW M3, car battery draining -battery less than year.

    From what you're saying here, I believe that you simply have a bad battery. Most batteries only last 5 years, much less if they're left to sit in storage periodically. You really should charge the battery overnight and do a load test on it the next day. The person(s) you spoke to at BMW were probably sales staff and not actual technicians. Costco has very good batteries at reasonable prices.

    BWM heater problems--display and switches working but no fan

    your fan speed regulator located on your heater core box is bad if its just one or some of the speeds. if the fan does not work at all its either a bad connection to your fan speed regulator or the fan motor has quit. out

    Bounceing in 1st gear

    hi, check the rubber hose between the air box and the inlet manifold, it may be cracked causing it to draw in hot air from the engine bay! temp fix it by taping it up with elec. tape, otherwise you;ll have to replace it, hope this helps, steg

    92 318I BWM , Starts for a second then dies

    check to see if there is a vacum leak, usally pcv valve unit leaks at back of the maifold
