SOURCE: 2001 dodge ram shuts off intermittently, restart ok no mil.

You are experiencing what is called a CCD Bus short in the instrument cluster circuit board. (chrysler calls it the "chrysler collision detection buss) it is how all of the controllers and modules communicate on that vehicle. Get a new one and you should have no problems, and used ones are a HUGE gamble. Other vehicles that are extremely bad for this are, caravans, neons, sebring coupe/conv, strates, and cirrus. It will also cause a no start condition that is EXTREMELY hard to catch.

SOURCE: Restarting problem

most likely problem is the crank sensor. they are bad about not wanting to work after they get hot, which explains why it works after a cool down. they usually won't set codes in that situation. but if you have a check engine light you should get it scanned first. auto zone will do it for free.

2003 Dodge Ram 1500 5.7L throttle body trouble!

Buy a can of electrical switch cleaner and spray both the male and female connectors on all those items involved.

If that doesn't fix it, you need an auto electrician with a pro grade scan tool computer who can scan for communication issues and record the Live Data as it happens and what made the electronic throttle indicator light come on.

Electronic Throttle Control Indicator This is the Electronic Throttle Control (ETC) Indicator symbol. This light, a lightning bolt between reversed brackets or parenthesis, will illuminate if there is a problem in the electronic throttle control system. As an electronic system, it can sometimes be reset with a restart.

No, the coil the is not the problem. I would take the ignition module and have it tested. Even though it may not test bad b/c it is still cold, it is more than likely the problem. Have you checked to see if you are getting spark when the trouble occurs?

I think you're describing a classic case of "hesitation." Basically, the engine hesitates when you step on the gas. I would start by checking the timing with the engine at operating temperature to be sure it's within spec.
