where does the clutch engage, right at the bottom of the pedal travel or right at the top ? if at the top the pressure plate is faulty, if right at the bottom it is the clutch plate that is worn. if it is a hydraulic system they have no adjustment.

There is an adjusting screw on the side of the transmission where the actuating fork meets the cylinder. You adjust so there is just a slight play when the pedal is not being pushed down. If the adjustment doesn't provide any results, then the clutch plate is worn beyond the adjustment range and needs to be replaced.
Clutch is dragging, not disengaging completely. Clutch is pressure plate knackered or the clutch linkage is way out of adjustment. If it's a hydraulic clutch it might need bleeding?
if it is a manual transmition it could be clutch slave cylinder leak , clutch master cylinder leaking , or clutch plate. or you might be lucky and clutch cable needs adjusting tighter.
Heavy on one side? I assume the trans is a manual and if so, the grinding can be caused by the clutch out of adjustment or the linkage or cable is faulty. Or you may need a clutch.
