When you hit the brakes to slow down the idle will jump up and down, and then it will stall out but it'll crank right back up. We had a few sensors change throttle position sensor, crankshaft sensor, idle air control valve, also replaced the spark plugs and wires, air filter, cleaned out the throttle, also had the computer sent off and checked no problems with it. There is no check engine light on, we've sent it to a bunch of different mechanics to no avail.

turn the key to the on position a see if you can here a buzzing sound around the fuel tank,if you don't hear a sound then. (be very careful while doing this) with the key off take a fuel line coming from the tank loose, make sure its pointed away from you and turn the key to the on position, see if any gas comes out,if not then your fuel pump is probably bad.

I had this problem with my 99 Durango and went to AutoBeef.com to discover this was a major problem with 98 & 99 Durangos. The fix was easy -- PCM "brain" was exchanged with a refurbished PCM "brain" from an online PCM company in Florida. You can google as I can't remember name of company. I called them and they said - Yep this is the fix -- the guys told me 3 screws all I had gone to several mechanics and dealers -- none could figure it out. I was so grateful that someone gave me the clue I needed.

Find your firewall electrical junction block (where all the wires enter the cabin on the passenger side) and with a zip tie pull up the wire bundle so it does not ride on the upper tie rods and, fasten the zip tie to anything that is solid in the engine compartment and, let me know what happens

What you have done so far is throw parts at your truck,
without vehicle knowledge.
If your going to work on your own vehicles ,spend the big
bucks at Helm.Com & buy the factory Powertrain Control/
Emissions Diagnostic Manual for year 2004 ford vehicles
You surely had to know as you proceeded, that all those parts
didn't fail at once & you tested nothing, to determine they were
in need of replacment.
Now you need to know why you have a PO316
Air,fuel,spark or vacuum leak.
Not easy to diagnose if you don't work at it for a living
