Question about Audi Cars & Trucks

My Audi 500 sel overheated. The motor now turns but there is no spark. I checked all obvious. Could there be a "fuse" that is gone. Possibly one that cuts the vehicle out in cases of overheating?

I have a 1997 Nissan pickup.
I had done some work on it & then I was test driving it up the road & I drove approximately 1 mile then my truck just stopped running.
I opened the hood & the hose had blow off & my truck had over heated it has something that will keep it from running when it gets to hot. If your vehicle has cooled off.
Some of these cars have ignition control modules that can go bad & it will stop any sparks from going to the plugs.
I had a 1979 Grand Prix that had this problem
Get you a service manual for this vehicle.

SOURCE: 2004 Ford f250 7.3 Litre Powerstroke turbo Diesel overheating

hi themulks
dave here

if you have a rad cap open it and check your coolant level. if it is low fill the rad and leave cap off while you then put the recovery resorvoir at the proper cold level. Move your way along to the thermostat and look for a screw and nut at the top of the housing. If there is one then this is the highest point of the coolant in your vehicle and you will bleed it by opening this hole and running your engine until only coolant flows from the exposed hole. Do not remove the screw just turn it until the hole in the side is revealed. I basically almost remove the screw (till it kind of wobbles) and then turn it back in til it stable (like 1 turn). Be sure that the coolant is flowing without bubbles(air) and not just kinda trickling with short pauses.
If the housing for the thernostat is lower than the rad cap then you bleed it through the rad. Wait for the thernostat to open and the level to go down and then refill it and watch to see no more bubbles (air) escaping. Once the vehicle gets hot you may have to wait for the engine to cool(ie) turn it off for a while and redo it. Also if you are using the thermostat bleed hole be sure to put the rad cap back on before you start the bleed process and keep your eye on the coolant resorvoir adding coolant as needed so you dont **** more air into the engine.

Is there power to the fan motor itself? Can you check with a VOM meter to see if you have power to the fan? Like a previous post, are they plugged in?

SOURCE: 97 audi a4 no power/battery fuse?

Sounds like either the battery leads are on the wrong way round, or the starter main cable is touching something and shorting to earth. Retrace your steps and check your connection locations.
Either that or its a dead short through the starter. Remove main cable from back of starter and tape up incase of short. then reconnect battery. If ok now then your looking at starter motor.

I would have the cooling fan checked, and have the thermostat changed. An overheated thermostat (overheating caused by something else) will cause problems in the future.

According to Pennzoil... They reccommend 15W-40W Synthetic. Or 10W-40 regular motor oil. But honestly, I'd call an Audi Dealer and ask, or check the owners manual, if you have it.

May be the clutch master or slave cylinder. Has the fluid level gone down at all? Have a look around the clutch pedal area for signs of fluid leakage. Good luck, Bob.
