SOURCE: 99 cavalier engine

I just changed a 2.4 in my 96. I pulled the whole thing because I coudn't get at the converter to flywheel bolts. After reading further, I saw information to pull the trans out through the drivers wheel well without the engine. They removed the starter to access the flywheel bolts to the converter.
I haven't tried it but it would make sense and it does make it a lot easier. Without the trans attached, you wouldn't need to remove the master cylinder or beat the sh-t out of the battery tray to get the think out.

Would a 97 cavalier fuel pump fit in a 2002 cavalier?

No. If you look up the part numbers on those 2 vehicles, you will find that the fuel pump part numbers are completely different. The 2002 Cavalier is most likely equipped with an EcoTec engine which did not exist in 1997. - Totally different specifications.

Radiator and 96' vs 97' Chevy Cavalier

In 97, most car makers changed body styles and sometimes they change mounting brackets and so on. If you can find a radiator from the same year or slightly newer, you may be better served than taking a chance on an older one. I would call a radiator shop and ask them what years will fit your car. They will probably try to sell you one but it will give you the information you need to make a productive search for the part that works best for you and your budget.

Only way it would work is to do the 01 conversion by switching the whole doghouse (fenders, hood, bumper, lights, etc.) It can be done though.
