SOURCE: Rear axle bearing replacment

Not 100% sure on that vehicle & don't have manual on it at this time, but will say very common that it does have "C" like clip at end of axle. Large pin comes out first, then push axle in slightly & remove clip, & slide axle out.

SOURCE: how do i remove the axles from the rear diff of a 1990 subaru leg

This a fairly simple task, you're going to need a set of roll punchs to remove the pins that hold the axles to the differential. You need to remove the large nut(32 or 36mm) that holds the end of axle in the drive hub,the nut may be punched or "staked"into the grove of the axle end and can usually be pushed out with a cold chisel .On the diff end of the axle there will be a large pin holding the end of the axle to the differential, knock the pin out,you should be able to push the end of the axle off the differential drive splines,if there is not enough room to get the end off you'll have to separate the bottom ball joint from the spindle housing, remove the drive hub to brake rotor bolts and use a large three arm gear puller to pull the drive hub off the end of the axle, torque the puller lightly and tap the the end of the puller push shaft and apply another small amount of torque to the puller,so you don't damage the hub, once its off you may lightly tap the end of the axle, use a piece of wood between the axle and the hammer and the axle should slide out the wheel bearing fairly easy.I based this off axle removal on an 88 XT and 84 Wagon so there may be a few differences, but I think you'll find its actually fairly easy,if you run into problems go register at autozone.com and they should have an on-line repair guide.

SOURCE: rear diff problem

The only place you did not mention is the pinion seal (at the yoke where the driveshaft connects) Any leak from a differential should be fairly obvious...clean everything off well and drive it, You should see seepage somewhere. Any grease on the wheels or new fluid where you cleaned will tell you where to look. If it is at the pinion seal, If you haven't done this before, don't...you can disturb the adjustment inside the gear case and damage the gears.

SOURCE: 1997 Lincoln Towncar Trying to remove right rear axle

oh boy? this is a good un, you can try to drill out the broken bolt but dont drill the threds out,, or drill a smaller hole than the bolt and use an "easy out" to undo the broken bolt,,,if you had used a bit of wd40 or a bit of heat on a sezed bolt first it may not have broken off,,,,this could now become expencive

I had a 1997 Ford Crown Victoria with An H9 rear axle code. I want to know what rear axle code is comparable to the H9 for a Mercury Grand Marquis?

reading forums on this reveals that the h9 is a 3.55 limited slip diff mainly used in f150 fords. However all that is immaterial as what you are looking for is a diff centre that is 3.55 ratio that will fit in your housing . The same housing will use the both LSD and normal diffs as the LSD was an option offered for off road vehicles or vehicles operating in bad road conditions

2003 jeep liberty rear how to replace a rear wheel bearing

the bearing will be pressed on the axle . remove the wheel brakes and the nuts holding the backing and bearing retainer plate. You may have to remove the cover of the diff and take out a "C" clip which holds the axle in the diff. Pull the axle out of the diff housing and take it to a engineering shop to have the nearing pressed off and replaced .Workshop manuals are a great help when doing this

I have a 1999 Mercury Grand Marquis. i noticed a little diff fluid coming from the right rear wheel. I changed the wheel seal and axle bearing and put it all back together and filled the rear diff with...

first swap to a front tyre to eliminate that issue

new bearing shouldn't be rumbling
to get the bearing square on and home
did you use a press to fit the bearing to the rear axle
or tube method ?

and did the seal kit have this nifty plastic seal fitter so axle didn;t rip the seal surface

Left rear axle leaking - Dealer states $820 to fix due to many parts within the axle. Does this sound right?

fix same problem myself...these's' only 1 inner seal (differential output seal only-about 10$ each) that needs to be replace and new brake shoes (20$ part)..assumed u have rear drums and it leaked diff fluid on the brake shoes..but, i also replaced the brake cylinder (15$ part)-u have to disconnect brake cylinder to remove axle..look on internet for procedures..http://www.yotatech.com/f128/replacing-rear-axle-seals-3rd-gen-4runner-76339/..hope this helps..all dealers are ripoffs-worked at toyota for a year

Need to remove rear axle on 67 camaro can't locate c clips

some older cars do not have c lips. you need to jack up car and place on jack stands withe the whelles off the ground. remove rims/tires. remove drum brakes. remove rear end cover. you need a drain pan under it. you need the car in neutral. spin axle. look in rear end. posi or not you will see the large pin that goes through the middle of the diff. one end of the pin is held in by a bolt. reomve the bolt. spin the diff down. slide the pin out. in side the diff on each side are spider gears. with the pin out push the axle in. this will push the clip so you can pull it off of tha axle and spider gera. then pull axle out. noe an easy or claen job but very doable.

1992 mitsubishi lancer 4x4 rear diff cluncking grinding

If I recall correctly, the axles have splines into the diff and also into the hubs. Removing the diff requires the trailing arms to be disconnected from the control arms to swing the axles enough to slip out of the diff.

REAR AXLE

There is a tag on the cover of the diff. It will say the type and axle ratio. If the diff. cover looks sort of like a stop sign, then it's a dana 44 rear. A oval shape(an oval on it's side) is a dana 35.
