The problem is the seatbelt latch. The wiring right at the latch and the strap are broken. Seems there is not enough slack in these wires to allow much stretch. You may be able to repair it if you can splice these wires back together if not about 160 to 170 for a new one. you can have it put on a machine and if the code leads back to the latch then you know this is the problem.

It probably will cost a few bucks to get the code reset, but you don't need to go to the dealership, most shops with a good scanner equipped for air bag code reading will be able to diagnose and reset the light. The most probable reason for the code is the battery being dead for a while, there is a capacitor in the airbag circuit to make sure the airbag can go off in a collision even if the battery disconnects itself in the process. There is a slim chance it might be something else but either way the shop should be able to tell you what the problem is, and get it fixed... But, just for fun, before doing all this, i'd disconnect the battery for 30 minutes to an hour and reconnect it back, some systems do effectively reset themselves this way.

Sounds like your mechanic installed something per your request. Unfortunately, you have to order the specific part for your vehicle or the light will stay on because the vehicle computer is not detecting a secong airbag.

Audi 2005 tt airbag light is on

You will need a scan tool to diagnose your airbag problem (and not the one at Auto Zone---dealer or body shop only). Once you have the code, check out this website. It's a site that will explain everything you need to know about airbag systems, airbag lights and resetting the system. It shows you the location of the components and the procedure for diagnosing and resetting airbag lights after a deployment. Not all vehicles need everything replaced. Although it's a pay site, it certainly is worth the money ($14.95 for 1 day full access) http://www.airbagsolutions.com/
http://www.airbagsolutions.com/scanlist.aspx
This is quite a complete website with pictures, descriptions and factory fault code charts as well as a working demo that shows just how easy these repairs can be.

"Retriger airbag control unit"??? NOT! If the airbags are deployed in a 2000 Audi A4, the airbag control unit MUST be replaced. Pleases refer to 2000 Audi A4 service information for more details.

A3 audi, cutting out while driving, airbag light on always and chugging intermittently at high speed

Hi!

The car may have a problem in the air mass sensor or else in the turbo. The best thing to do is, in first place, to connect a scan tool and check the memory for errors.

The airbag is a independent system. you should also connect a scan tool.

After that, maybe i can help you more.

Airbag light stays on in a 2003 audi a6 i've replaced airbag module & drivers seatbelt

You need to access the Airbag ECU (Electronic Control Module) using suitable diagnostic equipment connected to the data link connector of the car in order to erase all faults - DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) memored, unlock and reset the Airbag ECU. Then the Airbag light will turn OFF after approx. 4 seconds, ignition ON.
Good Luck!

Airbag indicator light

The most common cause of an airbag light that I've found is that one of the underseat airbag connectors was pulled slightly apart when the seat was put too far back. This strains the connection and opens the connector momentarily, just enough to trip the light. Your airbags are still fully functional - the light is a warning that there was an open connector at one time.

You don't have to go to a dealer if you have a laptop computer. You need the diagnostic software that Audi uses (called VagCom). You can download it legally and free from www.ross-tech.com, and you'll need a $20 OBDII interface cable for hooking the car up to the computer (available on eBay). With this, you can scan the car and see which airbag tripped the fault light.

If it's an underseat bag, look under the front of the seat - you'll see harness connections facing you. The yellow one is the airbag connector. Use small zip-ties and zip it tightly together (don't damage the wires!). Afterward, use VagCom to turn off the light, and you should be good to go.

Or you can go to a dealer and have them take three minutes to turn it off...and charge you an hour's labor. Your call:)
