I am not familiar with the model so I am not aware of any quirks it might have.

It has to be assumed the oil light is telling the truth and there is in fact little or no oil pressure on initial start up.
An oil switch doesn't put the light on at zero pressure but whenever the pressure falls below whatever the minimum rating of the specified switch happens to be - the lowest I have encountered is 4lb and others have been as high as 12lb sq in.

I have encountered similar problems before and on all occasions except two it was caused by oil drain back - due to time and gravity the oil in the lubrication system would drain back into the oil pan causing a "dry start".
The causes for this have variously been a low oil level, an excessively worn oil pump, a fractured or displaced oil suction pipe or the wrong oil filter. This refers to the canister type or spin-on filter, some of which contained a valve to prevent drain back. The valve wasn't incorporated into the offerings of many aftermarket suppliers.

The other two instances were caused by a partial blockage of the suction pipe gauze filter by the collapse or pushing up of the steel oil pan after being heavily grounded.

SOURCE: Oil Pressure Drops While Driving

your oil pump is either weak or there is sludge i9n the oil pan. my adives is to have the oil pan dropped . chances are sludge is the culprit. as the oil get's warm the pressure should only drop slightly but pressure is generally dictated by engine rpm. pumps are gear driven so if it was a bad pump your oil pressure would start out very low at start up.

SOURCE: like 3 days after i got my oil changed in my 2006

This is an idication of a severe oil leak. Check the oil level in your engine to see if there is any in it. Add to the full mark and return to the oil change shop and ask them to see where the leak is. Do not operate without oil. Severe engine damage will occur. Hope this helps Moe

2004 Chrysler Pacifica. The oil light keeps coming on, I had the oil changed & it still comes on.

When you say the "oil light," do you mean the light that says "Change oil" or are you seeing the red light that indicates low oil pressure?

screenshot 2024-03-14 153450-undefined-undefined-0.jpgIf you're seeing that red light, that likely means you have low oil pressure and should stop driving immediately, until the problem is diagnosed and repaired.

It's also possible to see the oil pressure light on when there's no issue with oil pressure, if the oil pressure sender has failed or there's a connection problem.

If the oil light you're referring to is the "change oil" light, you will need to manually reset it for it to disappear. Here's how (from Chrysler):

1. Turn the ignition switch to the ON/RUN position (do not start the engine).
2. Fully depress the accelerator pedal, slowly, three times within 10 seconds.
3. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF/LOCK position.
NOTE: If the indicator message illuminates when you start the engine, the oil change indicator system did not reset. If necessary, repeat these steps.

Reset oil indicated on 05 pacifica

There were 2 directions that I found. Here they are:
  1. With the engine off, turn the ignition switch to "On" without starting the engine.
  2. Within a 10 second interval, push the accelerator pedal all the way down slowly three times within 10 seconds.
  3. Turn the ignition switch to the "LOC" position.
Second one is:

Step 1 Turn the key in your ignition to "ACC." Do not start the engine.
Step 2 Press the "Step" button. This button is located on the instrument panel under the display that tells you how many miles until the car needs to have the oil changed again.
Step 3 Press the "Reset" button until the display shows "3000 Miles to Service."
Turn the key to the "OFF" position and remove it from the ignition. The oil monitoring system has been reset.
Hope this solves your issue.

I have a very small oil leak and my oil light comes on while idle I have a 05 Chrysler Pacifica touring 6 cl 3.5 where should I start

http://www.underhoodservice.com/servicing-the-chrysler-3-5l-engine/

You might take a look at this article.
On a fully warmed up engine at idle, the oil pressure, 5psi min. So says my database.
You might be able to use an analog gage in place of the oil pressure sending unit, to double check oil pressure.

This is the pressure light I think. Have that looked into RIGHT AWAY before you burn out the bearings in the engine.

Loss of oil pressure

How many miles are on the motor? Are you using the correct weight oil?

As oil warms, it gets thinner, and the pressure will drop as a result. When you say the pressure comes back after re-starting, is that after the vehicle has been sitting long enough for the oil to cool down, or does the pressure come back if you shut down and immediately restart?

Oil light on when I start, I shut off and light stays off

The oil light is supposed to come on when there is low oil pressure, so when the car starts, the pressure goes from 0 to whatever (25-60psi depending on the engine). As a result, the light stays on for a few seconds at the beginning of the start cycle and is then supposed to go out. If the low oil pressure light remains on, then you either have low oil pressure or you have a sensor problem. If you have low oil pressure, you may need a new oil filter. If the filter was just replaced, then you need to get professional help because low oil pressure will wreck your engine in a hurry. Your engine's oil pump may be faulty and need to be replaced.

1998 Ford Windstar Minivan: 1. I sometimes get an extended crank when trying to start engine after I've made a short trip. 2. My interior lights won't go out after I turn the engine off, so I...

YOU MAY HAVE A BAD DOOR AJAR SWITCH. HOWEVER, YO HAVE A TIMER THAT SHUTS OFF THE INTERIOR LIGHTS AFTER 300 MINUTES. IT'S CALLED A BATTERY SAVER FEATURE. TEST IT OUT.

THE EXTENDED CRANK MAY BE A CHECK VALVE IN THE FUEL PUMP IN THE TANK, ALLOWING PRESSURE TO DROP WHEN YOU TURN THE ENGINE OFF.
OR A BAD FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR ON THE ENGIEN FUEL RAIL.

TRY THIS TEST, TURN KEY TO "ON" POSITION, WAIT 5 SECONDS, SHUT OFF KEY FOR 30 SECONDS. TURN KEY ON, WAIT 5 SECONDS, THEN START ENGINE. IF IT STARTS RIGHT UP, YOU ARE LOSING FUEL PRESSURE WITH ENGINE OFF.

THIS BUILDS UP PRESSURE IF IT DROPPED DURING SHUT DOWN.
REPORT TEST RESULTS.

PLEAE RATE, THANKS

Light comes on at start up and shuts off when

If you don't change your oil often the oil pump screen gets covered with gunk and will cause your low oil pressure light to come on, and I suggest you drop your oil pan and check because your oil pump can be damaged. Go to any auto zone and they will print out step by step instructions for you .
