The fuel system needs to be bled . Disconnect the fuel hose closest to the engine and place it in a suitable container while turning the ignition key on and off a few times.Reconnect and try again.

This is sometimes called the lurch, disconnect the battery for 30 mins to re-set the "memory" in the gearbox, this should solve your problem, the gearbox will re-learn your driving style. Make sure you have your radio code before you disconnect.

there is a pull cord on the trunk liner it should be on the outside of liner fuel lid side on a bit of velcro but if the car has had some work in that area its more than likeley trapped behind the liner.pull it back and have a good look

Light came on and my lever to open the door to my gas cap will not open.it is a 2005 x type


I dont' know if this is any help but I had a similar problem with my XJ8. It seemed to be connected to the lock/alarm system on the car. If I locked and unlocked the car using the remote, I could then open the door over the gas cap. Hope this helps. Jags are always an adventure.
