Start with checking your BRAKE FLUID at it's reservoir/chamber/container!
"Top off the Fluid" WITH fluid approved for your car!
Next closely INSPECT the INSIDE of ALL WHEELS! LOOK for trails of fluid on your TIRES... I suspect at least ONE will have fluid on it! (Photo 1)
IF A CYLINDER IS LEAKING NOW, ONE MORE SLAM OF YOUR BRAKES CAN TOTALLY BREAK WHAT IS LEFT OF THAT SEAL AND COULD LEAVE YOU FLYING INTO WHO KNOWS WHO OR WHAT! ?
REBUILD that LEAKING Brake Cylinder FIRST (shown in SILVER).. then rebuild ALL of the others because THEY will soon fail too! (Photo 2)
BRAKES ARE QUITE REASONABLE so replace them as well. Also have your DRUMS/ROTORS turned at the same time. (Photo 3)
IF this is beyond your technical expertise I HIGHLY recommend you buy your parts then contact a 'backyard mechanic' referred by a friend or by shopping on CRAIGSLIST!
This approach will save you HUNDREDS of dollars... or you can take your car to a shop and get spanked!
DON'T fix it and you are BETTING WHEN YOU ARE GOING TO BE A LOSER!
R you loosing brake fluid, or its air in lines, if no leaks bleed your lines an should be good
SOURCE: Brake pedal will go all the way to the floor
make sure brake fluid is full. then pump brakes for one minuite check the fluid to see if it went down or stayed full. if it went down then check the system for a leak . if it stays full then you will need a new mastercylender . i dont think you have a vacum problem cause this causes a verry stiff brake pedal not one that goes to the floor
SOURCE: SOFT BRAKE PEDAL ON MY DAEWOO
MAKE SURE THE ARE NO OTHER LEAKS.IF U DID NOT BENCH BLEED THE MASTER CYLINDER BEFORE U PUT IT ON U PROBLEBLY HAVE AIR IN THE SYSTEM.BLEED THE MASTER CYLINDER AT THE LINES THAT COME OFF OF IT.THEN U NEED TO BLEED THE REAT OF THE BRAKES IN THIS ORDER.RIGHT REAR,LEFT FRONT,LEFT REAR.RIGHT FRONT.WHEN BLEEDING THE BRAKES WAIT 15 SECONDS BETWEEN PUMPS OF THE BRAKE PEDAL.IF U GO TO FAST U CAN DAMAGE THE MASTER CYLINDER.GOOD LUCK
First look for obvious leaks under the vehicle, especially the inside area of each wheel... If you see fluid, you have either a blown cylinder seal or a bad line (check the rubber hoses to the front and back brakes too) Repair the offending part and bleed the air out of the system... (remember to clean pads or shoes if they have fluid on them)... If you see no hint of leakage anywhere, then suspect the master cylinder... if you remove the master cylinder, check and make sure that it didn't leak fluid into the brake booster diaphragm (Brake fluid will destroy the booster)... as in any repair when you open the system (lose fluid), you will need to bleed out the air to restore function... hope this helps...;-)
SOURCE: pedal intermittently goes to floor when I brake, I just had pads
You need to rebuild the master cylinder or replace it. A valve inside the cylinder is sticking open.
