SOURCE: do you adjust the tps sensor on a 94 ford f250 5.8l when replaced

Best thing to do with a vehicle that you don't have any idea where the timing is supposed to be is something I discovered when I was a mobile mechanic. Loosen the distributor a little. Block the front tires and maybe even place the front bumper against something solid like a building. Put the truck in drive and hold the brakes down.Preferably have someone else do it while you are under the hood. slowly start raing engine speed. When it starts to stumble, move the distributor just a little one way or the other till it runs better. Once it does clears up, put a little more throttle to it. See if it keeps up. It may get to a point your back wheels will want to burn rubber. Once it does, let of the gas fast. If it dies, you have problems. Then you'll do what I said in the beginning and take it to your dealer to plug into it. Dealer, parts house, whatever. If it stay running good. You may have found the timing point. Good luck. If this is helpful, please post as such. If it is a fixya....you know.TY

SOURCE: 97 grand prix gtp starts then immediatly dies

If you have a GTP these engines use a hi output fuel pump. they use a fuel pump resistor located under the battery tray (look up from under the car) This resistor lowers the voltage to the fuel fump when not in boost mode. because of its locatoin it is prone to corrosion. if you bypass the wires and the engine starts and stays running replace the resistor

SOURCE: 97 ford f250 5.8 starts then dies as gets warmer

sounds like your engine is on its last leg. have you checked you push rods the could be bent usually due to over heating or a rocker arm is bad and valves sticking, or timing is wrong

Why wont 97 expedition eddie bauer run after startup?

Have you checked the fuel pump for any blockage? The car isnt getting any gas unless u manually pump it by pressing the pedal.. So start there
Sometimes when a engine requires excessive revving and throttle to stay afloat its a fuel supply problem. A clogged filter for example can be overcome with excessive throttle that drives the fuel pressure up enough to force it through, but it will barely trickle at idle and stall.

Usually the dead give away for fuel pump is when someone complains they have to floor it as soon as it turns over or it will die right away.

I have a 1978 Cj5 Jeep with a 304 V8 in it, so I have two questions. One is, the pcv valve in the back of the intake where does the hose coming from the pcv valve go to? The second is the hose on the oil...

The PCV valve hose runs from the manifold to the filler cap. It is there to suck the combustion pressure out of the sump on throttle manuplitation

My 1997 Nissan Sentra when at idle (like at stop sign) acts like its choking and if I don't give it gas it dies

I post this recommendation often as most people do not know about it. Your throttle body is gunked up to kingdom come with engine grime and is sticking not allowing the proper amount of air to get into your engine.

Your specific scenario sounds like the engine computer is not able to adequately adjust air coming into the engine and if you do not rev the engine, forcing the throttle body open the engine will choke out literally and die.

CLEAN the throttle body. there is a metal flap inside that is getting stuck. Check here to see a clean throttle body

Here is the quick and dirty: Your gas pedal is hooked up to a wire or motor that turns a flap open and closed and various degrees of open and closed as you apply and take pressure off of the pedal. this flapper gets gunked up and sticks. it is the sticking that causes your car to choke and die :)

Go buy CRC Throttle Body Cleaner and remove the throttle body and spray that in there and wipe clean with a towel.

Search forums for vehicle specific instructions on how to remove the throttle body and clean it. Guaranteed you are not the only person with this issue.

I will try and help for your Nissan Sentra

1. Open the hood, look at then engine.
2. On the right side there will be an air intake tube that is black and hooked up to your air box and throttle body with hose clamps
3. Losen the hose clamp from the throttle body and remove the black air hose from it and gently move it out of the way.
--> If you do not want to remove the throttle body completely, skip to step #7
4. there will be 4 bolts holding the throttle body to the intake manifold.
5. Note any and all electrical connections to the throttle body.
6. Remove the electrical connections (unplug) and remove the bolts (4) and the throttle body should come off.
7. Spray CRC Throttle Body Cleaner all over and wipe clean with a cloth that can get really dirty.
8. Make it SHINE :) then reinstall
9. put 4 bolts back on, reconnect the electrical connections you remembered from step #5
10. Reconnect the black air hose and tighten the hose clamp...

Done!

Start the car and it should be good as new. (sort of)

My car idle dips to low RPM at a stop i give it gas it dies

Is the engine light on? Check the air inlet hose between the throttle body & MAF sensor for cracks or leaks. Try unplugging the MAF & see if there is any difference

My truck occasionally dies when stopping and taking off and then starts right up.It shows no diagnostic codes.

Ive had the same problem. You have a vacuum leak or the EGR is clogged with carbon. The best solution would be to look for leaks around the breather and vacuum hoses. For the EGR just remove it and clean the gunk out. Im giving this info asuming that your dodge is a 90-97 or so.

1989 Cadillac Eldorado dies right after I start it

you could see if you have a friend that could help you bye starting the car for you and you need to un hook the top of air box as if you were going to change the breather take a small coke bottle and pour about 1 cup of gas in your bottle hold your breather hose up and pour about 1/2 shot glass gas down the hose and see if that alows it to continue to run if it does you may have a bad or weak fuel pump but I will warn you to be careful when dealing with gasoline do not go to overboard use your best judgement
