SOURCE: 2005 Ford 500 with broken torque strut. How to replace?

Go to a reputable (non dealership) shop and get a second opinion. Unless there was some sort of collision damage, I think it would be very unlikely that the part has gone bad. The only thing that strut does is limit the radial movement of the engine when you are revving the engine. Under normal conditions it should not get a lot of wear and tear. If the part needs to be replaced, you should be able to find it at RockAuto.com or other online part supplier for a fraction of the dealer price.

SOURCE: 2003 Protege5 front suspension knocking noise

Yes there is a bearing on the front stuts on the top under the upper strut mount and it is plastic. But the last guy was right it is most likely your struts, or it is your stabilizer links. There doesn't have to be much play in the links to make a tonne of noise. I replaced all my struts myself and it solved the problem for me. You can buy fully assembled strut kits for most veh so you don't have to compress the spring...just dont loosen fully the top middle large bold on top of the strut lol.

SOURCE: I am looking for an exploded view of how rear

the struts are very easy to pull off the car, but as to taking the strut apart that is best left to a professional, it requires very expensive special strut cartridge installing fixtures

Testimonial: "Thanks, I have access to the spring compressor if that is what you are refering to. "

SOURCE: how to replace rear struts on 2003 honda accord

You will need to rent a spring compressor or borrow one from advance auto parts. The access ports are usually in the back of the car, some have plastic caps over them usually about 6 inches square and some you have to take the inside trim panel off in the car to gain access. Do not attempt to take the struts out without a spring compressor or you will get hurt as the springs are under a lot of pressure so when un bolted without the proper tool they can come apart and you will for sure need a stich or two.

Front strut replcement 2006 buick lacross

Jack up and support the vehicle on the sub frame. Remove the wheels. Unbolt the strut to knuckle bolts. Unbolt the strut mount from the strut tower (3 13mm head bolts) Remove the strut assembly.

It your replacing with "quick struts" reinstall and have the alignment done.

If your just replacing the strut you will need to bring the old strut assemblies to a shop to have the springs compressed. Once the springs are compressed the strut nut can be removed from the strut and the strut can be replaced.

DO NOT ATTEMPT TO REMOVE THE STRUT NUT FROM THE STRUT WITHOUT COMPRESSING THE SPRINGS. YOU WILL HURT YOURSELF.

1999 buick regal front struts sqeak when turning wheel

try using a white lithium grease and spraying down the upper strut mounts if it is the mounts that are making noise, some times its also the lower ball joints squeeking from a lack of grease normally because the ball joints are sealed and ungreasable

How much should a mechanic charge to replace both rear struts and strut mounts on a 2000 Lexus ES300? How much to replace the front motor mount and the upper motor mount?

since it is a lexus i would not advise going cheap. the struts will probably cost around $350. the motor mounts will probably run around a grand since so much work is involved.

Change rear gas struts on 98 Buick Lasabre

No, it isn't...
You need:
-20" breaker bar
-torque wrench
-Liquid wrench (or WD-40 if you don't have any)
-Jack and stands
-sockets to fit all of the connections

1. Remove the back seat:
Bottom cushion comes out by pushing it rearwards and lifting, undo the 2 seatbelt bolts and 2 push nuts and remove the back cushion

2. Jack and support the frame of the car
3. Remove the wheels
4. Place a jack under the control arm where the spring connects to it and put a little tension on the spring. (this is so that when you unbolt the strut the control arm won't come crashing down)
5. Remove the air tube by rotating the spring clip 90 degrees and pulling on the tube at the connector.
5. Remove the lower strut bolts. (Exprerience shows me that removing the lower one first will save you lots of agony...)
6. Remove the two strut mounting bolts that are behind the back seat cushion.
7. Compress the strut and remove from the vehicle.
8. Installation is opposite of the removal. Remember to use a new mount if the one you are removing is worn. I recommend Quick-strut 171798. Good Luck!

P.S. Torque Specs are:
Lower Strut bolts- 140 ft/lbs
Upper strut bolts- 30 ft/lbs
Mount to strut bolt - 70ft/lbs

2000 Buick LeSabre Struts

Yes there are struts on the front and shocks on the back. 2 of each. They are around $50-100 for the fronts. $30-100 for the rears depending if the car has air ride or not.
