If the ignition switch and key are ok. The steering wheel lock can be easily disengaged by rocking the steering wheel back and forth and at the same time. Try to rotate the ignition from run to start. If the anti-theft light is flashing there should be an active fault within the security system. GM has a sensitive ignition switch you are not suppose to hang anything from the ignition key. The weight can damage the halo (part of the anti-theft system). Please write back and give me an idea of what you are looking for and how you want to proceed. Good Luck.

Either you may be using a key that you had copied from the original or your chip went bad in your original key. Most of cars now a days have the key censor in the key so if it is the incorrect key it will not start your car or if it does not read that chip it will not start

This means that your key is not being recogonized.Ethier the chip in the key is bad or the patts transciever at the lock cylinder. Do you have a spare key? If not you will have to get 2 new keyss cut and programmed.

Have you another key and fob ?

Try lock/unlock cycle with new key + fob. Your key may be corrupted.

Try also just unlocking the car with the key (not the fob) as soon as you unlock the door put the key in the ignition immediately and see if the car starts.

If you have your radio code it may be worth trying a total reset (leave the car unlocked) disconnect the battery and leave for 20 mins. then reconnect, most systems will then reboot and this MAY help?
Failing all the above it looks like dealer time - more ££ss

good luck !

SOURCE: ANTI THEFT LIGHT KEEPS FLASHING ON AND OFF

Did you steal it? I heard about you thieves who steal cars then put new transmissions in!!
Seriously, try this, it may help...
Put the key in the ignition, and turn forward all the way just before cranking. Then within 5 seconds, locate, press and hold in the valet/overide button, found under the dash area, (push button, spring loaded) until the installed LED (the blinking light) in your dash area goes on solid, and the siren chirps once. (Your valet switch might be the toggle (on/off) type. in this case, key on, flip switch in opposite direction, then turn the key off.) This should reset the alarm, and reset the grounded relay on the starter wire, allowing you to start the engine. At this point, the only thing working would be the keyless entry from the alarm, if it came equipped that way. Just Repeat these steps to place it back to usable armed mode. You may get 2 chirps, confirming it, and the lights may flash twice as well. That should do it. Check out www.explorerforum.com

SOURCE: theft light is flashing steering wheel is locked

First thing to do is take the key and manually lock and unlock the door.
See if that fixes everything.
If the steering remains locked try pulling it hard while you try the key
Can you put the transmission in neutral
Try a different key
Try smacking the key into the lock lightly
Hopefully one of the tips will work for you

About 2001 Pontiac Montana sw the key will not turn in the ignition and the anti theft light is on can you help me?

If the key won't turn it may be worn. Try a spare if you have it. Is the steering wheel turned hard and locked? Sometimes you can gently "rock" the steering wheel back and forth while trying to turn the key. You can also shoot some wd-40 using a straw into the ignition cylinder to possibly free up any wafers in the cylinder assembly that may be sticking

Dodge anti theft module

I suspect that there are wires chafing inside the steering column. Vibration while driving and turning the wheel for turns cause these wires to come into contact with other wires or grounds thay were not intended. You may need to look in this area more closely and repair insulation that is missing from the wires. A few wraps of quality electrical tape *and* repositioning the wire(s) so that they are not pulled / stretched again and / or inserting something non-conductive between the wire(s) should solve the problem.
Good luck!

My lincoln continental ford locked its self. the steering wheel and everything is locked. how do i unlock it?

The 3 most common causes are a security issue with your Anti theft system, a bad brake pedal switch, or a faulty ignition switch. Either of these would cause your steering wheel to lock up.
