Dipstick tube on the right hand side rear of engine, near the bulkhead. Just dip it like you would the engine. And the nice tricky bit, you need to put hte fluid down that little tube! A real pain, use a small funnel and be patient. DO NOT overfill - this can be very bad for an auto transmission. Any need to refill shows a leak, they don't burn oil like an engine does. I suggest you look for leaks if it does need fluid. If you are having rough shifts and no leaks, likely the brake bands need adjusting - a relatively simple job for an auto transmission specialist.

My husband changed the transmission fluid in my 2006 mercury Monterey he put in 7 guarts of fluid after wards and its not even showing on the stick does this sound right?

He either added the trans fluid to the engine oil or he is checking the wrong dipstick. CHECK THE ENGINE OIL LEVEL to see that the trans fluid is not in the engine. If the engine oil is full of trans fluid, do NOT START the car and now you need to change the engine oil and also add the trans fluid to the trans. If engine opil is ok, be sure to find correct dip stick for trans fluid. They should be marked accordingly.

2012 grand caravan can't find the transmission dipstick

Doesn't have one , like most newer vehicles . Could have a cap on top of trans/axle to add fluid . Probably a plug on the side of trans/axle to check fluid level . Take out the plug and if transmission fluid drips out , it's full . Don't know why they are doing it that now .To make sure call the dealer . Or look at owners manual

How to change transmision fluid and filter

Frist look to see if your trans has a plug in the bottom of your pan. If so drain your trans of fluid. If it doesn't you must loosen pan bolts and drain fluid from the sides of the pan it self. Then you must loosen and remove your bolts on your pan to get to the filter that is connected inside of trans either by bolt or clipped in place. remove filter and replace with new one only. Then replace your pan gasket with new one only. To keep pan gasket in place useing gasket sealer. make sure gasket is completely in place matching all holes. When tighting bolts Do not over tighten 20lbs torque is all that is required. Be sure all bolts are tightened at same torque. Replace fluid with required fluid that manafacture requiers for that vehicle. Pouring fluid into your transmission dip stick tube useing a small funnel. Replace only as much fluid as you have taken out. Do not over fill or serious damage is very possible to trans. once fluid is in transmission start your vehicle in park. check your dip stick on trans. If it doesn't read at full mark. Add more fluid until it does. #1 Once your at the full mark place your foot on brake and shift shifter through all gears park, rev, nutrual, drive. drive low, then back to park. #2Check your stick again to see if fluid is still at full. Add fluid if it is not full. and repeat #1 If your fluid is at full after going through your gears. Put car in drive and move forward slowly. It should move. If not repeat #1 #2 once trans is full and doesn't slip. It's safe to drive. Check trans at about 1 mile down road. If fluid is full your done. It is easier and much safer to take it to a garage if your not sure you are going to be able to do all this. It is safer for you to have it changed for under 75 dollars then to replace your transmission. Then to pay 2000 dollars to replace a screwed up transmission. They are damaged so easy and aren't at all easy to fix. So if in dought see a professional. Don't attempt it your self. Good luck

If the port is not full how do you know when not to add anymore trans fluid

In an automatic transmission while the engine is running in park check the dipstick after the vehicle has reached normal operating temp. There is a mark for cold and hot. Since the fluid expands with high temps always check when hot to ensure you wouldn't add any excess fluid if you needed to add some as overfilling it would cause premature failure and expensive repairs

Think its outta transmission fluid dont know how to check it or where to add it

There is no dipstick on the 2.0L auto trans. You have to check it and/or fill it from under the car. There is a fill plug on the trans case that will just drip fluid when it is full.

Do not have a dip stik on xj6 or tube sealed system. how do you add trans fluid to a seald trans . and how do you now when it is full.

YOU do not add. Take the car to the dealer they will drain the trans and refill it with the correct 16 and 1/2 quarts of ESSO ($42 a quart) trans fluid.
NOTE if you use red trans fluid in this vehicle it will not only void any and all warrartys it will also cause major trans failure.

Checking trans fluid level 4.7l 2001 laredo

First check your owners manual if you have one if not, then follow this proceedure. With vehicle in park & ignition off, open hood & remove the dip stick from the trans, should be some markings on dip stick that is stamped w/check in park or check in neutral. There will also be some hash marks, cold add/full, hot add/full. If checking cold, fluid levle will should be between the add & full, if checking the fluid level after driving, w/the vechile still running, check the fluid level w/the vechile in park or neutral, depending on what is stamped on the dip stick, check the hot level, should be between add & full. If fluid level at htis point is on add, then add 500 ml of fluid, check level again and add as needed.

Hope this is helpful.

How can I add trans fluid to my 99 caravan? I cannot locate it

If u know u need to add trans fluid, I assume u found the dipstick to check the fluid level? If so, that's where u add the fluid, w/ engine running and using a funnel, slowly add it. Shift thru the gears slowly several times, and check level again. Don't overfill, it's bad for the tranny.
