No. Cell in a home charges on 110 volt. Car voltage is 12 volt. When you charge in a car your charger converts the voltage.

Why my 1997 mercury cougar lost all power

well the battery was dead. , the starter is dead and fails to crank then engine. (turns over has no meaning, some say cranks other claims runs means turns over )
but I get it the starter motor is dead
then jumped cabled after 10min the dead battery is now just tad charged up but you removed the JUMP and the engine stalled I guess..
lights use only 10 amps of current , but the starter need 30 times more current and fails. 300amp to 500 amp hr battery is bad or lugs rusty or loose.
or the alternator is bad .
the cluster lamp , has charge/ battery lamp if this glows after the successful jump. the alternator is bad. (or belt to it failing/slipping)
keep in mind an alternator switches off line if any battery gross fault is detected (shorted battery cells or open)
batteries with shorted cell explode (acid rupture max)
batteries open cell (10v battery )the voltage can go so high over 19v
that electronics blows up, $1000 or more, damage
so the regulator takes the alternator off line , until corrected.
saving everyone and every thing from those horrors above.
what I do is fully test the battery first, charged and load tested.
or take to a autostore or shop and test it.

the battery they love to fail 5 to 7 years old.
that is there THING , short lived. same with belts, tires, hoses ,pads
tests are easy
get the battery load tested
or charge the battery fully using a real battery charger 15amps, best.
and test the alternator, after good battery works and starter works and engine runs
battery voltage running is 13v to 15vdc, if not the ALT is bad or its 3 fuses blown.(up to)
key off battery voltage fully rested battery say 1hour, is 12.6vdc,not 10.

also a weak battery can wake up, as they rest and the acid mix inside
the cells gets uniform it can gain capacity. this is common.
just key off ,lamps off, and battery can self improve.
if start is dead , learn to crank not just in park but try NEUTRAL.
bam it crank,s.

I HAVE A 900 AMP JUMP STARTER, WHEN I TRY TO CHARGE IT, IT FLASHES "FL". WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?

The flashing "FL" indicates that the internal battery of the Peak Performance Jump Starter # PKC0AZ is fully charged and is ready to be used.

How long it take to charge a motomaster jump starter

Depends on the device capabilities and the type of cells or battery it uses - the common type of jump starter has a sealed lead acid battery and recently high performance types have been introduced that are lighter and smaller and more expensive due to being based on lithium cells.

It is important the lead acid type is never allowed to become discharged as if left discharged for even a short time it will be damaged and in a few weeks could be completely ruined. A jump starter should be recharged after every use and routinely charged every month or two.

A top up charge as above would usually last anything from half an hour to several hours depending on the battery capacity and state of charge. A jump starter designed to start a big diesel will take longer than one designed to start small to medium petrol engines.

If the unit is completely discharged and in the unlikely event it is still healthy, a complete recharge could take days...

Hello, After charging my Peak 300 Jump Starter it whistle's (loudly) after I unplug it and it just keeps whistling... Can you tell me what the matter? email:

Refer to the instructions that came with charger. If you threw them away you have a problem You can go on line and download instructions.
Low Charge Alert (LCA)
On the front of the unit there is a Low Charge Alert port. There is a red plug in this port. With the plug
removed, when the battery level drops to LO, an alarm will sound to remind the user to recharge the
Jump-Starter.
The alarm can be turned off one of three ways:
ā€¢
Placing the pin back into the Low Charge Alert port
ā€¢
Recharging the battery immediately to bring it to the capacity of 10% or more
ā€¢
Pressing the battery indicator display button. If the alarm is turned off by pressing the battery
display button, the alarm will sound automatically again in approximately 1 hour.
The alarm will only be turned off permanently if the battery is in a fully charged state, or the pin is
inserted in the Low Charge Alert port. There is a storage port on the back of the Jump-Starter for the
LCA plug. When the plug is removed from the LCA port, it should be installed in the storage port on the
back of the Jump-Starter.
Charging Jump-Starter Battery
All rechargeable batteries gradually discharge when left idle, and you need to recharge them
periodically to maintain maximum battery capacity. The AC charger plug within the Jump-Starter is
designed to charge using a 110/120-volt outlet.
ā€¢
Fully charge unit to the recommended maximum and initial charge time of 24 hours. Thereafter, an
AC typical charge time is 8 to 12 hours.
ā€¢
Recharge the unit fully after each use. This will prolong the life of the battery because frequent
discharges between recharges will reduce battery life.
ā€¢
Make sure all functions of the Jump-Starter are turned off during recharging

Where's starter located on 2005 Ford Explorer Sport Trac 4x4 it started fine ran to store wouldn't crank it clicked but even with jump it wouldn't start

I would start with the battery first. If your battery lost 1 or 2 cells in it, jumping doesn't help. It's like try to jump a totally dead battery, you have to let it charge up some before it will crank over. Except with a dead cell, it never charges up.

I tried to start my sequoia while being jumped all it did was continuously click what is that a sign of

It can be either a very dead battery, since a very dead battery can cause even the best jump start to load down to where you won't get enough starting current, or a bad starter. Check the cells of the battery for water. If there are any empty or dry cells, fill them. When you hook up to the jump vehicle, let that vehicle run and charge your battery for 5-10 minutes and try again. IF there is improvement, it is probably the battery. If not, I would suspect the starter.

Won't start. plenty of juice. Won't start, even with a jump. Very rapid clicking and all dash lights strong.

The clicking sound indicates that there is insufficient charge reaching the starter motor to turn over the engine. If you have enough charge going into the starter, use a multi-meter to check, test at no load and under load. Then check your terminals on the battery and starter to ensure all are clean and tightened properly.

How much to fix the starter in my 97 oldsmbile achieva

maker sure you have proper voltage. Anything less then 12.2 will cause a starter to act like its OUT.

Commonly looking at around 300 bucks for a new starter and shop rate to replace.

Check that battery first. thats my guess. especailly since you have been jumping it. The cells are probably too dead to hold any charge and its sucking up all the voltage from the car your jumping from. Especially in COLD weather. GOOD LUCK! -jeff
