In cold weather, car seems to idle too low, stalls, lags on accel

In the winter, when i tried to start it half the time it wouldn't fire, when it did fire it would run rough while i had my foot on the gas, but would die if i took my foot off the gas. if i could get it warmed up enough it would idle on its own, sometimes dieing again while idling or while driving. heat gauge never moved from cold. now in the summer it starts almost perfectly and runs smooth. however it heats up very quickly. i think the latter problem is a result of a leak in my rad system but was wondering if the two problems could be related. cheers

How do you fix, condensation in your feul, 2001 plymouth neon

If you are sure its moisture you can purchase a solution that will take the moisture out of the fuel as long as there is not water sitting in your gas tank. If you are letting a vehicle set all winter and going to use it later you should fill the gas tank with gas before storing and this will prevent moisture from forming in the tank as the weather gets cold and warms up. Even in the winter with all vehicles you should keep your fuel tank above half full at all times. People sometimes feel it takes too much money to fill the tank but it takes the same amount of gas to put in the top half as it does the bottom half.

F 150 2004 stauls during the winter-summer months no stauling

The stalling, if you are talking about when the engine is cold, is due to a failure of the "Cold start routine". Should this be the case, the defect is due to a temperature sensor failing to send a signal or the PCM failing to use the signal.

Now if this stalling is when the engine is warm in cold weather, it can be due to the ISC(idle speed control) solenoid. One reason the stalling is reduced in the Summer months is the A/C has an idle speed step-up which works when the A/C is used.

Another part which can cause stalling is the "Cam Phaser" in some Ford designs. The A/C step-up may mask this problem too. This is a problem in 2 camshaft motors. It requires more intensive inspection. Try the cheaper causes first. The Cam Phasers would be expensive.

Engine starts , and dies. Only when weather is cold.

hello there
I looks like your oxygen sensor,Try to disconnect and then see what the car does?Let me know. You may need to adjust the fuel mixure, seem it is running a little rich that is why the car in idle goes up and down.

Diesel rodeo dies and lack power when cold and in winter

Try changing the fuel filter and get the glow plugs checked or replaced .Diesel goes a little waxey in colder weather making it harder to go through the filter .
Hope this helps.

2001 Dodge Caravan SE 2.4L.. In cold Weather it starts then stalls and dies...?

Inlet air temperature sensor, also known as throttle body temperature sensor, will do that. Don't go changing TPS, or IAC, as suggested in other post. If they work good in warm weather, they should do the same in cold. Air inlet sensor tells system how much fuel to deliver according to temperature, as engine needs more fuel the colder it is when starting.
