Engine cutting off while driving, what could be the cause citroen c3 2004 1.6 petrol

no year car told , no engine told of 2, Mark1.
lots of causes, ,top 2 , bad spark and 2nd loss of fuel pump pressure
scan it yet?
2010 to 2016 (mark 1 model )
160hp 2.0 liter Nu engine and a 170hp 2.4 liter Theta engine
well it is 6 to 12 years old but no year told ,why?
cranks fast but does not start or stalls driving.
when cool it does start.
so was it overheating?
it needs service any car ignored that long needs service..

Did the belt brake while driving

the fuel is constantly rotating round the fuel lines, the fuel is pressurized, so any fuel that is not used by the injectors is sent back to the tank.. this give a constant flow and pressure to the tank. the pressure in the tank is regulated by the pressure relay that lets air into the tank to lower the pressure. this is regulated by the ecu and your speed. if the pressure drops or is to high in the tank the engine can cut out on the fuel rail there is a fuel pressure regulator this keeps pressure on the fuel line coming into the injection system. some systems have duel line feeds from the tank for 2 rail systems, this system was not reliable due to the amount of feed pressure needed to fuel 2 lines. and can cause pressure leaks. some systems have a pressure regulator controlled by the ecu on the return line, this is more fuel efficient as it keeps the fuel at a steadier flow back to the tank and give a better fuel spray into the engine. hope this help you.

Change the PLC (computer)

in the cab ECU, the window leaks (or door leaks if close to ECU)
under hood, driving too fast in deep water . or horrific fender rust.


you never stated a year, how are we going to guess that.
each generation of car the move the thing... (forward)

this sounds like a problem with the throtal pot located on the end of accelorator pedel thi used to be a problem

Have the fuel filter changed most likely cure.
If not it could be numerous problems from fuel pumps to injectors, coil packs,spark plugs air filters etc
Try the fuel filter first if it isn't cured get a diagnostic check done by a garage.
Note petrol and diesel can have different causes also the fuel filter on a diesel is not a diy job.

Have you throttle control checked, also change your fuel filters you may have debris in your fuel tank and lies that is disrupting the fuel delivery to your engine. Possibly did not show up on test drive if not driven by you as different drivers, Drive differently.
