I just recently purchased a License plate light assembly for my Dad's 2006 Suzuki Grand Vitara, and had a mechanic put it in. When I turned on the lights, NOTHING! The tail lights are working, so what could be the problem? Wiring? Short circuit? I do not know where to turn. Please, if anybody can help me out there, I would appreciate it. Tim.

  • Bill Boyd Sep 21, 2018

    possible explanations
the power wire from the tail lights is not hooked up
the ground for the light is not connected

Hello Bill, where can I find the power wire for the tail lights, and where can I find the ground wire for the light. I thought when the mechanic put the assembly in, it would work. I only have a few days left to get my Dad's car inspected without having to pay another $18.50 for another inspection. This totally STINKS!

  • Bill Boyd Sep 21, 2018

    only $18.50 for an inspection
you can consider it stinks when you have to pay $120.00 for an inspection
run a wire from the light at the center of the holder to a power wire for a tail light
put the park lights on and use a multi meter to get which wire has 12 volts
use a buddy clamp to clip that wire from the light to that wire
now run another wire from the bulb holder case to any ground point

SOURCE: where is the starter for a 2000 suzuki grand vitara located

starters are normally located at the rear of the motor usually hard to get too or see. should be on your bell housing in other words just in front of the gearbox/clutch

SOURCE: cabin filter element location

Filter is located behind the glove box. All you need is a screwdriver to replace.

1. Open the glove box and empty to take the weight off the box.

2. On the right side there is a plastic hinge like device held on by one Phillips head screw. If you have trouble removing with a Phillips screwdriver you can remove with a narrow flat head screwdriver. Remove the screw and slide hinge off the mount.

3. To drop the glove box press the sides slightly inwards while 'forcing' it open beyond it's normal stopping point. Careful as when it releases it will fall wide open and may even fall from its hinged area. Set it aside.

4. Behind the glove box there is probably some fiberous material inserted to prevent noise like squeaking when it rubs. It is sticky on one side to hold it in place. Just remove and place out of the way.

5. Behind the fiberous material there'll be a cover which kinda looks like a grille. Mine was white and it is in the center of the opening. Remove it by releasing the clips at the left or right. It comes right out.

6. When the cover comes off slide the filter out and replace it. The filter lays flat and just slides in and out easily. However, if it has been some time since you replaced be prepared for a lot of debris on top of the filter such as leaves, grass or other general type of debris that has been sucked into the filter. It also may be the source of any bad odors that you smell through the air conditioning system.

7. Reverse the process. Replace the cover and push the glove box lid back into place. When you replace the glove box be careful to make sure the hinge you initiallly removed the screw from is not left behind the glove box or you will have to remove again to get it out. Replace the screw and do not over tighten as it screws into plastic and then your done.

SOURCE: have to change clutch plate on suzuki grand vitara

If it's hard to get into gear you should check the clutch is disengaging properly.
Before changing the clutch plate, check that the clutch throw-out is adjusted correctly and the actuating hydraulics/levers have the correct amount of travel.

I got a 99 grand vitare no clearance light no license plate light and no dash lights keep blowing fuses changed all the bulbs and just keeps blowing fuses

There is a wire that has shorted to the body. Tough to find. Obvious places are the license plate socket wires.. Next is the clearance lights. The harness that goes to the fenders is a good place to look. If you know a lot od good swear words... have at it...lol Good luck.

Where is the starter located on a 2008 Suzuki Grand Vitara?

one of the hardest starters to remove
only held on by two bolts but not enough room to remove it
without taking a lot of parts off

will be best to buy a 2006-2014 vitara repair manual

see if the exhaust manifold removal makes it possible
or the engine mount bracket

this is the 2008 starter

My 2006 grand vitara tail lights are out I checked the fuses and there good I did notice that my license plate light went out first and than my tail lights could that possibly be the problem?

USA car, non export is my answer and no trailer mods.
Not RENEGADE
no Canada DRL options, right?
are the FRONT PARKS OUT TOO????? my shoe drops.!

so putting in 1 new bulb not fix 1? easy huh>?
did you scan the PCM for errors, DTC errors>
this year has digital controls for that.
the tail lights are really parking lights and are on all 4 corners not just tail. so are they all dead.? and the cab illumination in cluster
in PARK dead?

the BCM puter, closes the park relay on your command(digital)
this feeds 2 fuses rear, 7 an 9 (for both ends of car !!!)
9right
7 left rear and license.
so if 7 and 9 are good then the relay is not closing or bad.?

so in a shop we check fuse 7 and 9 , live, with voltmeter
12vdc both sides, parks ON,
if not 12v the relay is bad or not ON.
so we scan to PCM to see if the BCM sees errors
like "lost park output"
or see CANbus comm errors.
causing the loss of the park command to BCM

BCM means body puter.

not complex but BCM most close the relay !!!
12volts across that coil, or there will be no parks.

25453770-z53v0bh0zacy3ra2sk1gfmgn-2-0.jpg BTW the word tail only works on 1920 fords, had only 1 tail light
the parking light run about 20 lamps all over car. and in front of car.
the front lamp marked tail would be ODD.
but I know what you mean.

you need a simple test light and need to check for power at the lamp socket or just replace with known good bulb first after checking the fuse..

What fuse needs replaced for the break lights on a suzuki grand vitara 2006?

Obviously, in different markets, there will be different wiring set-ups. In Australia, both the brake lights and horn work when the ignition is off and they share a fuse. If your horn doesn't work, maybe your brake lights don't either.
