I'm trying to figure out why my remote won't work for the door locks
Which fuse box ? under the hood in engine compartment or inside the passenger compartment ? The front electronic control module controls the power lock's . Fuse # F2.14 -10 amp located in the central junction box powers the FEM . Fuse # F2.6 - 15 amp located in the central junction box powers the keyless entry module. Did you try battery in the key fob (remote ) ? Take it to a qualified repair shop an have code's checked .

There is a flash for the body control module for this problem. You need to go to the dealership to get it performed though.

I had this problem. Through some research and asking some service personnel I found out it is a fairly easy fix. You will need to buy a new relay switch for the door locks. The dealer will/should know what you need. They are located (two of them, buy two and replace both) on the back side of the fuse box. It is not that easy to get back there. I had to lay on my back with my head up under the instrument panel. They are visible and can be removed if you take some time and be careful. Once I knew what I was looking at, it was easy to replace and the remote works like a charm. You can go to an auto supply, like Autozone, and they should have a schematic to show you where these relays are.

may be a relay switch, or a faulty wire on the right side behind the glove box

The actuactors for your locks have a little motor in them. In this motor there is a resistor that will give out over time. Usually the locks gradually stop working over time. You can remove the actuator and take it apart and fix by removing the resistor in the motor and putting a peice of copper in its place. Takes about 30 minutes per door if you know what you are doing. Do a google search for ford windstar door lock fix and you will find several blogs with detailed descriptions of the repair.
