Jensen RV cab radio does not have power in the key accessory mode.

I just bought an RV that has a Jensen stereo in the cab. It works great when the vehicle is running but it does not work when putting the key in the accessory mode? All other vehicle accessory mode items work fine like electric windows so it's not a accessory key mode issue. There is simply no power to the radio in accessory mode?

Sounds like you need to land the Key On Power to a different point.

Testimonial: "Thanks... but I don't know what that means. Radio doesn't work on accessory mode but then turn to run mode or start the vehicle and it works fine but of course vehicles should not be left in the run mode for much time without the vehicle running as "non" accessory engine items will run when in the run mode."

Get yourself a 12v test light and simply test different fuses until you find one that is hot all of the time and make sure that the keep alive power is connected to a hot all the time circuit. This is what keeps your station memory. It should already be landed to a hot all the time circuit. Now the other power wire is your power on and this should be landed to a key on hot circuit. Just turn your key on and test circuits that have power with the key on and move the power wire to that circuit.

thanks......I'll dig into it and try to find the correct power lead as it sounds like that is the problem. Previous owner/installer must have hooked it to the "run power" lead instead of the "accessory" lead.

    Yup, that is my guess.

SOURCE: Lost all electrical power while driving?

Sounds like a poor connection from either the positive or ground from the battery. Check connections at the battery, follow the cables to see if any other connections are loose.

SOURCE: Same issue no radio, windows, locks but dash board electric works

Try unhooking the battery, turn key on, leave door open, then connect battery, start engine immediately. The battery saver module thinks it's saving your power!!

SOURCE: 01 Suburban engine, 8.1 liter, abruptly turns off

Its the crank sensor. There was a recall a few years back for 2001 8.1 liter engines crank sensor. Engine would shut off perodically and sometimes would not restart untill cool. Plus it just happened to mine. about a 350 dollar dealer fix.

SOURCE: power window, radio and interior lights don't work

Hey man the box your looking for is under is behind the fuse box on the drivers side. You have to remove the lower box that is already exposed to get to the relay box behind it.

My truck won't kill,it cranks just fine but when we remove the key from the ingition all the power on the inside of the cab is off but the truck is still running. What could cause this?

My first guess would be a faulty ignition switch. There could also be a short in the wiring - there has to be power going to the fuel pump relay and the ignition to keep it running. You should be able to turn the key on and off and check those circuits with a meter or test light.

2007 Pontiac Torrent: Radio drains battery when off.

hmm... well normally that line will also power the clock but i cant see it drawing that much power :/ If you take that fuse out does it still flatten your battery? what about immobilizer? or car alarm? but whatever it is... you may have to divert power to ignition instead of accessories so that it only uses power when the key has been turned to 'on' position... but there's definitely something using power there.... I'm curious!

2004 sunfire ignition key wire does it have one/ instaling new radio only have constanyt 12 volt radio power on off button does not shut off do i use this wire and where does it go the ignition wire...

Hi, your factory Sunfire wire colors are pasted below. The yellow wire should be accessory. This should connect to the stereo's red power wire. The orange "always hot" wire should connect to the stereo yellow wire--this is only used to keep your station presets in memory. Please let me know if you have more questions, and thanks for using FixYa.

I put a new stereo im my 1996 seville and it wont get power

sounds like its wired wrong .. there are three power inputs to the radio .. one is on all the time .. its for the clock only ... the second is from the panel lamp dimming circuit .. it turns on when the panel lights are on ... the third is the main power to the radio .. it is only on when the ignition is on or in accessory mode ..
