After about 5 hours of flawless highway driving, my Freestyle displays either AWD or transmission warning. Then, I can't go faster than 50 mph even with pedal to the metal. Any ideas? Thank you!

SOURCE: Problem accelerating after 50 mph

If you don't have a obdII code reader, I would take to autozone and have them check for stored obdII codes they do it for free even if check eng light is not on, and look them up on the net just type in the codes on the search ex ford escape p10442(whatever codes show up) and you should get problems associated with codes. It could be a number of things from a bad seneliod to the tranny pump, you would need to get a diagnostics test done to know for sure from dealer AMCO, or other facility that does transmission work it runs around $100. ope this is useful.

Maybe check for loose u-joints, transmission mount, or carrier bearing if you have a two piece driveshaft.

CAR RUNS FINE BUT WHEN I DRIVE FASTER THEN 70 MPH THE CHECK TRANSNISSION LIGHT TURNS ON THE TRANS HAS A BANGING SOUND. IT GIVES A INCORRECT GEAR CODE. PLZ HELP

Don't drive faster than 70Mph! That is over 115 feet per second! Anyway, it's 4WD, correct? Check the fluids in the tranmission and transfer case. You transmission may need to be serviced. Limit your speed to 50-60 MPH and don't shift hard...with a lot of RPM's, when taking off and going through 1st 2nd and 3rd. Drive gently until you can have the transmission serviced.

Maybe a transmission problem?

If you're only in "D", you should switch to "OD" when driving at higher speeds. "D" only allows you to move up to third gear whereas "OD" will move you into fourth. You're over-working your transmission by driving in "D".
