Many things it could be.----is the battery dead ,turn lights on ,do you have lights? if so are they as bright as you would expect? if the car is auto matic try in neutral as well as park, still no go ---then check battery voltage , check engine fuse ,clean battery terminals,it is starting to sound like a dead cell in the battery and yes they do just die and you will still have lights etc , but nothing when you try to start try another battery or jump power from another vehicle BUT USE JUMPER LEADS THAT HAVE A RESISTOR,IF YOUR CAR HAS A COMPUTOR .....and if it has that could also be the problem, you have enough to start with if you have no joy ,come back and i`ll have another think

Hi,
You'll likely need a new ignition switch. (The electrical side) You can confirm this by pulling the lower steering cover when issue is occurring, and using a test light on the black and yellow wire when turning key to "Start" position. If test light doesn't illuminate, replace switch. (Easy)

Thank You for contacting Fixya.com

Be careful about probing any yellow wire as it could be SRS airbag wires.

I removed the battery and now the car won't start

'I disconnected the car battery/changed the car battery and now my car won't start'

Another common question on Fixya.
You've done nothing wrong. It's simply that the immobiliser doesn't recognise the key.

Put the key into the ignition. Turn the ignition on. Press the LOCK button twice on your remote. Wait 1 minute.

Turn the ignition off and press the UNLOCK button on the remote a couple of times. This will disarm the immobiliser.

The key should be recognised and your vehicle will start.

Had starter checked and it is good.have to turn key back and forth several times before car starts.it doesnt make any noise or anything,it does nothing at all until the 2nd or 3rd time sometimes

Could be a worn out ignition switch & the
starter solenoid could be bad

Don't personally care how or what was tested,
based on what I see on this site, not much is done
correctly, when you pay someone

My bmw 325 will not start battery is fine all dash lights are fine but nothing happens when i turn the key

Try changing your starter motor relay under the hood or its possible the starter has simply went out. if high mileage is present.

Car not turning over changed battery now lights come on, fuel pump comes on but nothing else happens

key may be inserted in ignition however requires an extensive turn clockwise to attain start. depending in the type of car, auto transmission would start with turning key after insertion. manual transamisiion cars require pressure on the cluctch lever before an start spark becomes attainable. also inspect that the car has gasoline by obsvering the fuel gauges of simply performing several sparks least to sucess.

My 2006 pt cruiser wont start, no lights or radio. nothing? when i turn key nothing happens inside or out

Check the battery terminals for corossion. Look for the chalky white powder which is a tell tale sign. Simply move the cable connectors back and forth a few times to loosen corossion and provide a better contact. Have you checked your fuses. I probably spelled corossion wrong, sorry.

I have a 2001 vw beetle that will not start the lights come on when key is turned but nothing happens to the starting section it was suggested to change the ingition control module if you think that is...

before replacing your ignition control module, it is a good idea to test if it is your starter/solenoid. I dont know if the solenoid is built into the starter on this car (many or most newer ones are) but either of a bad starter or solenoid could also cause a no start condition and is probably a more likely and simpler problem scenario. When you say "nothing happens to the starting section" do you mean you've already tested that no power goes to your starter or simply that when you turn the key to the start position nothing happens? If you have a voltage tester there should be a smaller red wire leading to the starter/solenoid in addition to the large one going straight from the battery box. If this is 'hot' or has voltage when the key is turned to start (12-14 volts is good) then the ignition module is not the problem. Remember that on your VW you can only hit the start point once for each key cycle.. ie before your 'start' point works, the key has to begin in the complete off position. you can't 'retap' start from the on or acc position for additional tests.
