I can contribute a little to this but there are a few things that you have done that maybe you did not understand. Not saying this is not salvageable but there are procedures.

With the serpetine belt off, you can turn the compressor electric clutch. Without power the clutch is suppose to free wheel on bearings until electric is allowed to flow to the clutch and lock or engage it to drive the compressor. You should feel roughness in the compressor clutch if its bearings are bad. Most remove with left handed threads but sometimes rust to the compressor shaft.

If you can lock the electric clutch(may not be 12 volt) you can manually turn the compressor to feel roughness. Be aware that compressors take oil and each maker uses different oil weights.

Next, you need to borrow a vacuum machine to empty the system and since moisture will turn to ice, it needs to have negative vacuum pressure.

When you refill the system you found out that too little or too much Freon will not work. You look for the a/c label on the car and it will show the ozs. you need. A postal type scale can help.

While you have the serpetine belt off, check the other pulleys for roughness. Hope this helps. A compressor leaking oil will bring noise and burn out bearings. Hope this helps.

Take it to a garage and have them evacuate the system and refill with refrigerant. you have air and non condensibles in the refrigerant system.

That clutch and coil are serviceable without replacing the compressor but I have had little success with this as usually the clutch gets in that shape subsequently from activity going on inside the compressor which means that clutch is failed generally for a reason.replace the compressor -orfice tube-reciever drier and happy motoring......

SOURCE: Car AC stopped blowing cold, compressor turns on, Freon at 45

check the thermo control amp, it is a sensor that keeps the evaporator from freezing. I had that problem on my 2000, it's a common nissan problem, google nissan ac problems.

SOURCE: ac compressor on 99 isuzu rodeo turns on and off .

Does it have the correct amount of freon, it can still blow cold with the wrong amout of freon, this will damage the compressor, you may also have a bad cycling switch or bad high preasure switch and even a bad connection to ac system, this first thing is to make sure the correct amount was installed,

I have a 2002 Volvo s60. My ac compressor pulley wont turn. Am I able to bypass the ac compressor with the serpentine belt?

no
disconnect the power wire to the ac compressor clutch
that will isolate the compressor if it has seized bit still allow the pulley to turn
if it will still not turn , have the pulley removed and a new bearing fitted

What size belt do I need to bypass Mercury Sable AC Compressor

I had to do the same thing on my Toyota Avalon. I used a flexible cloth measuring tape to measure around the pulleys (minus the A/C, of course). I had to cut the pulley off the Avalon A/C compressor because of interference issues. You may or may not have to do the same.

My belt is sqealing and i have been told maybe i should disconnect the ac as it may be ceasing..how do i do that

When the A/C is not being used, the A/C compressor pulley should be free wheeling. So disconnecting the A/C will not help. Pull the belt off and spin the A/C pulley by hand. If it turns freely, and no noise, the problem is elsewhere. Check the pulley on the alternator and the other pulleys. If all appear and sound okay, try a new belt.
If the squealing only happens when the A/C is used, it could be a bad compressor, but again, the pulley should be free wheeling when A/C is turned off. If it is not free wheeling, disconnecting won't make any difference-you will have to replace the compressor.

My a/c compressor in my car messed up so i took it to get it fixed i put the oil and freon in a couple days later but the day after i got my car the steering wheel started shaking then it stopped and it...

Do you hear a sqeal like a belt ????? It sounds like your air compressor is trying to lock up.....In turn would make your belt slip and power steering act different....

The AC Compressor on my 2003 sable is making noise I was told it needs to be replaced. If it does break can I still drive the car.

It depends on how it breaks. If the noise is a rattling bearing or clutch, it will likely throw the belt when it breaks. If the sound is an internal problem, you'll probably be fine driving it. Many part stores carry an a/c delete pulley for this car that will allow you to remove the compressor and put the delete pulley in its' place.

I have a 1998 Mercury Sable LS Dual Cam. My A/C Compressor went out a couple of months ago. The Compressor is seizing up causing my belt not to turn so the car won't start. Mechanic said a/c needs to be...

Looking at your accessory placement, I see no good reason why you couldn't just get a shorter belt--perhaps the one that you would buy if you had bought the car without the A/C option.
The routing will be different and you might need another idler pulley--not sure. I cannot find a routing diagram for the case with no A/C option, so I will not declare victory at this point. See if your parts store has a belt for your car without A/C, then ask them to show you the routing diagram. See if it has the same pulleys as your car and it the routing would interfere with the compressor hanging in place.

A/C Fan on a 1998 Mercury sable won't come on

It could be low freon and your compressor clutch is not engaging. Have someone turn on the AC while you look at the pulley at the compressor. Low pressure will cause it to "try" to engage or click and then shut down. AC is a "danger" item in self help manuals.
