Different this is rock auto and the different companies and location of 02 sensors you can use this as a reference and when using ebay check the compatibility will tell if up or downstream

There should be just 2 02 sensors on your car an upstream and a downstream

Here is the link for both the upstream and downstream 02 sensor

Amazon com B072WPRVF6

The answer was incomplete, and the link did not help -- tried to sell me two sensors without distinguishing if they are the same or different for upstream and downstream. The confusion has not been cleared up, and eBay has better prices -- but still does not tell you which is what....

Sorry for the confusion, they are different. There is an upstream and downstream sensor. I just recommended a cheaper brand I have had good luck with on Amazon.

Upstream, as in ahead of the converter, back toward engine. Start at converter and work your way back, should be on exhaust pipe or even on manifold.

SOURCE: 2001 elantra replaced cat o2 sensor upstream and

In reading what you've already done, I would suggest a Compression Test along with a vacuum gauge hooked up to the intake manifold. It may be that you're burning oil through your exhaust system in the catalytic converter. I've seen this with leaking or inoperative turbo-chargers. Pull all of your spark plugs, marking them as to what cylinder they went in with a Sharpie and if worn, replace them. Check the distributor cap & rotor button for wear or cross-firing. A Haynes Manual for your vehicle is available through most part stores which is truly effective for your DIYer. Bad plug wires can send unburned gases down through both O2 Sensors and the Catalyst. You may also want to check the plug wires and the coil(s). A fast way of checking plug wires is to grab all of them with your hand with the vehicle running and if you get "zapped"...you need spark plug wires. Remember, the codes you pull are just a general starting point as to where to start your diagnostics, not the exact problem itself. The computer doesn't monitor the mechanical aspect of your engine nor the fuel supply. The computer will take this as a given, so don't forget that when testing that it could be a compression problem or fuel problem, but as I first said...an oil leak fouling your exhaust system such as an inoperative EGR valve or oil leak on the exhaust side of the valve train.

I hope this Helps,

2015 Chevy Impala 3.6 l upstream o2 sensor

You have 2 of those and also 2 downstream. You have two banks of cylinders and each one has an upstream o2 sensor and it is located in the exhaust manifold for each bank. Your scan tool should say Bank 1 or Bank 2.

The downstream sensors are after the catalytic converter.

What are the symptoms of a bad upstream O2 sensor? Sensor 1 Sensor 1 is the upstream oxygen sensor. It is the sensor that measures the oxygen content in the exhaust, providing an input to the computer, which determines how to adjust the air/fuel ratio. Sensor 1 is the sensor closest to the engine. Sensor 2 is the downstream oxygen sensor.

How many o2 sensors on the 05 grand jeep Laredo 3.7 are upstream and downstream sensors the same?

The 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 3.7L typically has two oxygen (O2) sensors. One is located upstream (before the catalytic converter), often referred to as the pre-cat or upstream sensor, and the other is located downstream (after the catalytic converter), known as the post-cat or downstream sensor. In many cases, the upstream and downstream sensors are not the same and serve different purposes in monitoring and optimizing the air-fuel mixture and emissions.

Where are o2 sensors location

One would need the year, make, model, and engine size to tell you exactly where they are and how many.

O2 sensors are always in the exhaust stream, either in the exhaust manifold that is attached to the engine, or in the exhaust piping after the exhaust manifold. Some models have one for each bank of the engine, and some have only one sensor to monitor oxygen content. These engine sensors that the computer uses to "fix" or adjust the air/fuel ratio are called the upstream oxygen sensors. If the car is equipped (as most are today) with an oxygen sensor after the catalytic converter, this is called a downstream oxygen sensor. They are the same and do the same thing, but the downstream sensor is only used to monitor the efficiency of the converter. The upstream sensor(s) are what the computer reads to adjust or "trim" the fuel delivery.

So some older cars have only one o2 sensor. Not far from the engine in the exhaust stream. Some newer cars with dual exhaust (2 converters) may have four o2 sensors. 1 for each bank of the engine and 1 behind each catalytic converter. A 2005 Buick Century with a 3.1L engine, for instance, has only two o2 sensors: one (upstream) in the exhaust down pipe, and one (downstream) just behind the catalytic converter.

Code p0420 acura m'dx

1996-newer (OBD-II) vehicles use oxygen sensors and a catalytic converter to reduce emissions. There is one O2 (oxygen) sensor in front of the catalytic converter (called upstream), and one behind it (downstream). When the engine is warmed up and running normally the upstream oxygen sensor reading fluctuates and the downstream one is fairly steady. In the case where both readings are fairly steady, a P0420 check engine light code is set.
Possible Causes: Oxygen (O2) sensor not working correctly
Damaged or leaking exhuast (pipe, manifold, catalytic converter)
Damaged catalytic converter
Diagnostic Help:
To diagnose a P0420 trouble code we begin by checking for exhaust leaks under the vehicle. Then use an oscilliscope to check the waveforms of both upstream and downstream O2 sensors. The front reading should vary, the rear should be steady. Replace as necessary. Check the rear Heated O2 Sensor. Check the catalytic converter, replace if necessary. If necessary, check for wiring and component concerns. See our article "Automotive Circuit Testing 101", if you need more assistance with this. Remember to refer to an model-specific repair manual for proper instruction.

There is are upstream and downstream O2 sensors. 1 or 2 (upstream) before the catalytic converter which sends signals for closed loop fuel control and OBD II monitoring, and 1 (downstream) after the catalytic converter, which is used to monitor the catalytic converter operation. The PCM monitors the signal from each O2 sensor.

Exact location of downstream O2 sensor.

Downstream O2 sensor is after (downstream) the catalitic converter on the exhaust pipe. Upstream O2 sensor is after (downstream) the engine exhaust manifold - before (upstream) the catalitic converter. Upstream O2 sensor controls air-to-fuel ratio to yield a small excess oxygen. Downstream O2 sensor assesses the catalitic converter performance.
