What vehicle is this for? Do you have any warning lights on the dash? When running does it run smoothly or lumpy?
This will probably be a fuel supply or spark problem. Has it been serviced recently?
Get the ignition timing checked as well as the injectors, (or carburetor), checked for faults.

SOURCE: engine won't start. I used quick start fluid into

CHECK FUEL PUMP FUSE AND RELAY.IF ALL IS GOOD HAVE SOME ONE TURN IGNITION KEY TO RUN POSITION.DONT START.IF YOU HEAR FUEL PUMP RUNNING IN FUEL TANK. FILTER COULD BE STOPPED UP.IF YOU HEAR NO SOUND FROM FUEL PUMP.IT COULD BE BAD.ALSO SCAN THE CAR MAKE SURE YOU HAVE NO PCM FAULTS.BECAUSE PCM CONTROLS FUEL PUMP ALSO.

Testimonial: "yep thanks, I'll try checking the fuses and fuel pump, then after that i'll get the scan done. this is a great car to drive, one of America's best."

SOURCE: Car would start idle really

Fuel pump may not supply enough pressure to run engine, but it could be a pluged fuel filter as well. you should get the code pulled out of the computer this will tell you exactly what is wrong or at least narrow down what is causing the problem. It could also be either bad gas with water in it or bad timing or wrong firing order.

I HAVE A 1995 S10 4 CYL.MANUAL SHIFT WHEN I START IT IF I TAKE OFF QUICK IT WILL IDLE NORMAL WHEN I STOP BUT IT I SIT AND LET IDLE IT WILL CLICK AND AND SPEED UP BUT ON THE ROAD IT RUNS GREAT

First thing to check for I feel , are vacuum leaks. Check all vacuum lines for being connected securely, no damage, cracks etc.
I use engine starter fluid in a aerosol can to detect leaks, spray around the vacuum lines, around intake and throttle body, ( if you here a change in how car is idling, while doing this, you have found your leak.)

Rough idle

Sounds like a automatic choke sticking....Take the air duct loose from carb..While accelerating engine spray bottle throttle spray in.....as the car tries to die...stop spraying...Repeat 3 or 4 times.....It will clean your injectors. Runs alot better...Remember....bottle throttle spray...not carborator spray

Car would start idle really bad. Take off really bad spitting and sputtering then smooth out and be ok to drive. @ stop and start again did fine. It was hit and miss. Changed plugs and wires, still runs...

When I come to a stop, the car dies. After idling for a few moments, the RPMs start dropping below 1000 and the car dies sometimes. What's my problem? I just replaced a fuel filter, and it was running...

Here are the common cause of surges, cold stalls, stalls at stops, slow idle speed, erratic idle speed, rough idle and engine hesitation (and other problems), it is in most cases the idle speed control air-bypass valve and or throttle valve and upper intake, these area's get full of gunk and combustion residue over the miles and cause idle issues (stalls, low idle) like yours, Get a can of intake cleaner from any local parts store, not carb spray, intake cleaner, it is made by a company called CRC, remove the air intake hose to the engine, hold the idle high so the engine won't stall, then spray the can of cleaner into the intake while keeping the engine running, use at least 1/2 the can, shut down the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then restart and complete a number of mixed driving cycles, town, freeway, stop and go etc., after a few days the problem will go away as the system will relearn to the clean intake.

Stops running

I have been having this problem, first definitely check out the throttle body to see if its gummed up and you can try to clean that by spraying carb cleaner into it, check all your filters, check the idle air control valve and spray with carb cleaner but not onto any electrical connectors, crank the car and if it doesn't start then give it a bit of gas while cranking and it will idle rough and it will smoke a bit to burn off the cleaner, and hold rpms until it the idle smooths out, if that doesnt work then maybe a mechanic?
