Cabin Air Filter Installation
Annoyed with all the pollen and dust in your interior? Unless you special ordered it, Ford left out the cabin air filter. Here's how to install one in your Focus. Compliments of myFordFocus.com Forum Member: CinnabonBoy Cost: $10.00 Time to Complete: 10 minutes Tools Required:

Instructions: (Click images to Enlarge)
  1. Stop the windshield wipers when they are in the up position. Since the filter will be placed on the passenger side, this will make it easier to access the panel.
  2. In the center of the windshield, there is a small plastic circle piece. Pry it off with the flathead screwdriver, and set it aside in a safe place. Remove the screw you have uncovered. (See picture) This will make it easier to remove the panel you are about to remove.
  3. There are 3 plastic locking clips holding the cover down. Use your flathead screwdriver to GENTLY pry them up. Once they are up, give the whole piece a little tug up and to the left. You will see the slot where the filter goes.
    • BE CAREFUL!!!! Everything is made of plastic, and everything can break. Take your time, and don't get frustrated.
  4. In this slot, there is an eggcrate style plastic piece retaining the space where your filter is about to be placed. Pull up and out on it to remove it. You will not need this piece, so you can discard it, or keep it in a safe place.
  5. Remove your filter from the box.
    • Note: which side is to be placed "up".
  6. Slide the filter into the casing, ensuring a snug fit.
  7. Replace everything you removed by reversing the steps above.
  8. Go in the car, and blast the vent, to remove any dust, etc. that may have been in the vents.
  9. Enjoy your clean air! You will notice that your interior will stay cleaner for longer periods of time, and you can breathe easier!!

SOURCE: How to remove and replace cabin air filter 2007 se crew cab

If you haven't figured it out yet, try the two links below. They have pics and diagrams. I haven't done this yet but, Nissan suggesting to have it done. (Sitting in the dealer having oil changed as we speak. They want $90 to replace the 2 filters.) I'm planning on doing it myself to save about $70. Doesn't look too difficult - just a little time. Parts are about $22 at local parts store. hope this helps. (Won't be back on this forum. So won't see any response you submit back).

SOURCE: trying to locate fuel filter on 2003 ford explorer

Hello,

FOR THE FUEL FILTER;
It has two fuel filters,one in the gas tank, and one under the driver (left) side of the chasis, closer to the rear pasenger door.

FOR THE CAB AIR FILTER;
Gently pop the hood,look to your hard left you will see a black box shape with a large hose coming out of it right behind the radiator, disengage the snap locks holding a cover on the box , open the box up and see the filter , pop it out and replace if you desire.

Good luck..

2003 2liter runs fine but it just quits after sitting still for a min or two but starts right back up

I would start with cleaning the idle air control, then would clean the mass air flow. Also check the air filter. I have ran into oil soaked air filters on the Focus.

Where are locate the air filter for 2003 ford focus 2.3

When you look at your engine you should see a black plastic or rubber hose that runs from the air filter enclosure up to you air intake. The plastic hose should be around 3 to 4 inches in diameter. Be sure not to mistake this for one of the radiator hoses. After you locate the filter enclosure there should be 3 or 4 latches or screws that you will have to undo. After you either unclasp the claps or unscrew the screws which ever your specific car has the enclosure should pull apart exposing your air filter. I hope this helps.

NEED TO REPLACE MY AIR FILTER ON MY 2003 FORD FOCUS 2.3 LITER

I believe in 2003, we put a 100,000 mile Air filter assembly on the Focus to comply with California Zero emissions rule. Called PZEV. So, your filter should be a combination air filter/housing assembly that is sealed so no fuel vapors can escape. A new assmembly is over $150, so don't replace it unless you find one cheap on ebay. IF you really need one, I can get you one for 10% over cost. You can pay through Paypal.

Stalling stuttering after fuel filter change

Air in the fuel filter. there is a fitting you can bleed the fuel system by depressing like a tie valve. Turn ignition on so pump is working and depress the valveon the fuel rail to release the air. Hold untill only fuel comes out. - good luck and no smoking.
