SOURCE: Honda civic 1992 twin carburators model.

I dont know where do you live, but honda civic 1992 don use carburator, they are fuel injection, you can have coolant temp sensor problem, or map sensor problem, run diagnose jumping the diagnose wires loated in the passenger side, kick panell close to the door wall, better get the repair book in the parts store to locate the conector ,and read how you can run the diagnosis

SOURCE: Burning smell when I drive in 1993 Honda Civic 4 door

the info of the problem is to broad, what type of smell is it plastic smell wire smell rubbery gassy? theres to many smells a car can generate while driving down a highway to narrow it down to just clutch plate or brake pads

although yes both can make a smell down the highway its more than likely a grease or liquid burning you should check your engine for leaks mainly around the head and tranny and also check your boots and joints it could even be you picked something up off the road and its now stuck on your pipes burning try it all out

SOURCE: 1995 honda civic, while driving engine gets hot & cold?

I used to have this problem too on my 95 Honda Civic EX. It would get hot then it would cool down when I stopped. I replaced the thermostat and it took care of the problem. I am not a mechanic but it was real easy to change out. I bought it at Auto Zone and they even gave instructions on how to replace it. Also don't forget to buy the new seal for it. Hope this helps.

Too much oil in 1995 honda

Did you overfill your car with oil? Did you check the dipstick? Is that why you are thinking there's too much oil? What color is the smoke coming out of the exhaust? If it's white, you could have an issue with the piston rings, as the oil burns it's leaking out through the cylinder piston rings if they are worn down.

Smoking from under hood

A leak of some fluid, probably oil, dripping onto the exhaust. This smells terrible, and it only needs a drop or two.

Oil in plenum on a 2004 gmc sierra 5.3

PCV sucking oil?
EGR sucking oil?
are all spark plugs tips oil free, if not the EGR can suck that up.
the plenum has Air and fuel but also has the EGR+PCV gas cloud.
this normal smog cloud, makes carbon and oil .
The PCV sucks piston ring blowby gasses and oil vapor.
that is what it does.

1992 grand marquis ls. My car has white smoke come out when I reverse alot of times and when Im sitting at a red light and take off i see a cloud of white smoke, but it evaporates quick, it doesnt come out...

Could it possibly be that you may have to much or not enough transmission oil or even water in your transmission being its an automatic transmission or maybe your clutch needs adjusting or replacement if its a manual/standard transmission

At what mileage is a 2004 Honda Civic 4door Si due for transmissionn service i.e. tranny oil and filter

You need the owners manual, which you can order
from Honda, and follow the operating under severe
conditions schedule. This a high performance version
of the civic and should demand more frequent maint.
My 05 Accord owners manual, under normal operating
conditions, has some ridiculous 10k for the oil and 20k
for the filter change sched. Meanwhile, my Honda service
rep. pulled me to the side and says change oil and filter
every 4k. You be the judge.

Losing oil, no visible leaks. 120,000 miles

Hm. In my experience if you lose oil at the rate of 1 qt. per 800 mi. it's going somewhere. Actually, if you lose 1 qt. per 1000 mi. and change your oil every 3,000 mi. it's under $10 in oil you have to buy to keep it topped off, and some places say that's there's nothing wrong.

But, your case is a little more serious.

I think that it's probably leaking past the rings and/or valves and the catalytic converter is eating up the oil, so you see no blue smoke, like you would in a car that has no converter (I'm assuming you have a catalytic converter on your car as my 1981 Honda had).

After 100,000 mi. little irregularities in the piston cylinders can develop, and seals can gradually degrade. So, this is normal for that kind of mileage, although there are people who get over 400,000 mi. on their cars with just regular maintenance and driving highway mi.

You might want to try one of those slower burn oils designed for cars with 75,000 mi. and above. That might slow the burn off of oil down to acceptable levels.

Good luck with it.

I HAVE A 91 HONDA CIVIC AND HAVE HAD SOME OVERHEATING PROBLEMS. I HAVE CHANGED THE RADIATOR AND LEAKING HOSES. NOW TH PROBLEM IS WHEN COLD THE CAR WILL START NORMAL BUT AFTER I DRIVE IT A WHILE IT AND...

White smoke is burnt coolant. Take the car in and have a pressure test done on the rad. It's probably going to lose pressure slowly so get a compression test done on the engine. This will most likely show a leaky head gasket. That is the most common cause of white smoke out the tail pipe and could also cause your other symptoms. Hope this helps.

My 2004 Mazda 6 Sport Wagon starts with a cloud of white smoke. It burns oil like there is no tomorrow and the dealership tells me I need a new engine because this one's dead (66,000 km). They want $2200...

It is too much. The cost is high since it is at dealer. Go to an independent shop it will cost about $2400 with an old engine (50K miles) plus labor (labor costs around $750) with one year warranty.
