It seems likely that you have an electrical issue. If you are not electrically or mechanically capable I would suggest taking it to a mechanic you trust or even better would be a friend that is an electrician that can test the electrical connections and rerun wiring and thereby fixing your issue hopefully, good luck let me know how it works out for you.
I use an 25 year journeyman electrician for problems such as these with my Drag Racing vehicles, well and all my vehicles two boats and a truck and SUV and my daughters camry. HE does alot better than the mechanics and I can usually get it done for a 12 pack.
SOURCE: Burning smell when ac is turn on
well as for the ford man sorry to here that. I am a holden man myself, but it is most likly that your fan switch is on its way out if you have a test light just pop the switch out and see if you have power to your high setting if not replace your switch. And for mgauthier I would suggest you just reroute your overflow pipe so it overflows onto the ground not onto hot metal parts. But you shouldn't have coolant coming out your overflow all the time. As for burning smell it was probably the switch burning out and failing.
SOURCE: gas smell and smoke
I don't see how trans fluid answers this question because i would first be wondering where th fuel smell and smoke are coming from... i had a leaking fuel rail on my truck and replace it along with the injectors and had better mpg and no fuel smell or smoke... maybe this helps better than just say trans fluid....

Could be two different problems.
If the check engine light is not on, I would look at the vapor canister for the gas tank. Its usually mounted in the engine compartment.
If you have a small oil leak, the fumes will be sucked into the passenger compartment thru the cowl vents.
