I had the same problem with a 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe. While driving to work as I pressed on the gas the brake and battery light would come on. When I applied the brake, the lights would go off. When I got to work I turned the car off and then tried to start it, nothing. The car made a funny sound while running and I could smell somethig smoking. I replaced the alternator and all is good again. When removing the alternator the bottom lifts off the mounting bracket, you cannot drive the bottom bolt back through the mount as I tried to. Simply remove the nut on the bottom bolt and remove the top bolt, then lift the alternator out.

check everything you can under the hood your air intake system all of it especially make sure all clamps are tight .. and make sure all vacuum hoses are good and not cracking or broken or just loose . you might run a little fuel cleaner through a tank of gas too cleaning the engine fuel system up some. just a few ideas.. You'll need a scanner which is compatible with Hyundai's ABS system to retrieve any DTC's (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) stored in its computer. Any time the ABS light comes on, there's a DTC stored in its computer - that code will tell you where the problem exists. Then you can go from there.

you may have damaged the ABS sensor or wire to the sensor up front check the wire that runs from the inner finder well and make sure it connected to the ABS sensor on the spindle
