EDC 3776 electronics Diesel controller ,
engine lost power up a hill, sure.
No truck makers name?
no year truck
what size engine/? diesel?
lost power is :
1: bad fuel
2: filters dirty or packed up.
3: injectors clogged.
4: weak pumps.
5: other problems with EDC , scanned and seen,
6: truck needs service. or hill too tall./? IDK I can not see the hill.
I got this, and it was a failed trans shift solenoid no 1. This rendered the trans unable to find low gears. However there should be a trouble code notified by a light on the dash.
First check for any codes, then test vacuum with a good vac guage. When reving engine the vacuum should drop and then climb back up. Check for vacume leaks by spraying carb cleaner at any vacume hoses and intake areas but not at air filter.
then also check compression as well as look at spark plugs to see that they are all tan and no differences in any one. Go to YouTube and search for how to test engine with a vacuum gauge.
Most any problem with an engine can be diagnosed with a vacuums gauge but do use a second test method as you have learned replacing parts hoping to fix a problem is costly.
in the first place you must change the filter and the transmission oil in your automatic gear box , if the problem persists and your gear box shift not the gear for climbing hills it is a tehnycal problem with your gear box , but in my opinion ( i had a similar problem with my car ) this is the only problem. It's quite possible to ruin a fuel pump by letting it run dry, especially if it already has years of use. When you first turn on the key, leave the door open and see if you can hear a high pitched whine for about three seconds. That would be the pump priming the system. If you don't hear it, then the pump isn't working. Be sure to turn the key of for about 10 seconds before you try listenng again(it has to reset). It can be hard to hear, especially over the key buzzer.
i know the camp verde hill of which you speak , last vehicle in the shop with that same scenario , after doing everything possible including a catalyst check , as we could not duplicate the problem , we replaced fuel pump at owners request and next trip he confirmed it was a fix .
have fuel pressure checked if ok should be approx 60psi.if ok try disconnecting mass air flow sensor connector to see if problem is eliminated. this the computer in to a default mode.the sensor is a common problem.thanks from schleck
