The described braking concern is symptomatic of contamination in the brake fluid. When oil comes in contact with the O rings/seals in the hydraulic brake system, the neoprene material will swell up and restrict movement of the brake caliper pistons. The caliper pistons will move out against the disc brake pads, but due to the distorted O ring seal, it will not retract while the brake pedal is released. Sometimes, the service person at the oil change station will by mistake put power steering fluid in the master cylinder reservoir and create the symptom. If you find this to be the case, the entire hydraulics system will have to be flushed or replaced and all of the neoprene (rubber) components will have to be replaced. If you do all the underhood service on your car, then you don't have to look very far to discover who put power steering fluid in the brake cylinder

sounds like your brake cable has broken or there is something damaged in the pedal assembly.........try pulling on the release handle and move the e-brake pedal back to its off position by hand at the same time.(you may have to tie it in this position to keep it up)If that doesnt work there is a sensor on the pedal assembly that you should be able to bypass by either disconecting the wire(1 wire system) or connecting the two wires together (2 wire system)Especially if your truck is a standard the e-brake is an important safety feature,so if these steps fix the light and dinging problem you should still take the steps to have it repaired.
hope this helps.........Good Luck!

Check to see if you have a MPV that has been included in the recall for the PCV line. Yes it is difficault to get to on your own, however they have special tools to reach behind the manifold to remove the line and install a new one. If you do it on your own it is very difficaul and will take a few hours as a I did before I found out about the recall. The service dept. should have asked you about the recall when you went to get the part from them. Where I got pissed was when they did replace the hose the faulty line had fouled the pcv valve and they did not bother to replace it and that is tucked under the intake manifold and under the fuel rails.

This sounds like a wheel bering. If you turn left on a bad passengerside bering it growls louder because more pressure is shifted onto it.

I have had this problem with my 90' SC, easy check is to clean your IAC valve. Carbon build up prevents if from working right.
