At the core of it, one of the many systems managed connected to your engine or exhaust is failing, and when the computer senses this, it triggers a light. Sometimes this can mean a gasket is going, and that can be a big deal, but then other times it might be a simple solution or a repair you can hold off on. Here are the top things that trigger a check engine light.
Loose Gas Cap, Faulty Catalytic Converter, Failing O2 sensor or Spark plugs need to be replaced. As long as the light is not flashing, you're ok to drive it.

SOURCE: IS THERE A RECALL ON BLISTERING DASHBOARDS IN NISSAN PATROL 2006
Hi there:
I suggest to called my local Nissan dealer and they did not know anything about it.
Also, you can check out this thread for some experiences of forum members so far with this recall: nissan-patrol-gu-gr-10/gu-series-4-pimpily-dash-52267
Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and
I`ll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some

Thank you for using FixYa, have a nice day.
Whenever this warning light or any
other stays on in the dash it is indicating that the systems control
module (or the system sensor in the case of lights like low oil
pressure, door open indicators etc.) has detected a fault, it then
disables the system (this applies to ABS,TCS, TCM, SRS, TPMS, MIL,
CEL and BCM faults and others) as long as the light is on. You must
now have the dealer hook up a special electronic diagnostic tool and
"scan" the system for the fault code that is stored for the
problem(s) Legend of Abbreviations. ABS
Anti-lock brake system. TCS Traction control system, TCM Transmission
control module, SRS Supplemental restraint system, BCM Body control
module. TPMS Tire Pressure Monitor System, MIL Malfunction Indicator
Lamp, CEL Check Engine Light.
