First turn off you dome with the light switch. then have you light switch checked to see if it bad.its a start to your problem. then your light relay has to be checked.
along with your fuses and possible wiring problem.

SOURCE: My dash and radio lights go out when I turn on my headlights.

hi mate i owned a caprice classic on a 98 renown for electrical problems because there is so much electrical equipment on them try disconnecting the radio first and see what happens and try disconnecting the dash and see what happens failing that it could be any bulb in the car causing a short as the lioghting circuit is linked into the radio good luck

YOUR SPEDOMETER WORK WITH A SIGNAL FROM THE GEARBOX. I AM SURE THE AUTO PILOT DOESN'T WORK TOO. IT CAN BE LOOSE, CABLE BROKE OR THE INTERNAL COMPONENT FROM THE GEARBOX IS DAMAGED

I have a 1995 ford mustang and im experiencing something kinda werid if i let the car sit for more than a couple of hours my dome light doesnt work when i open the door but i can pull the headlight switch...

If you have a light control module then that is probably failing. However if the dome light is activated by small switches in the door pillars it is possible that the contact points may be rusty or have a bad earth.

1983 chevy caprice classic my dashboard lights dont work and also the clock stops working when i turn the lights on

Probably bad ground in the dash circuitry. You'll have to pull it out and check all the connections. Big job.

Why on a 1995 caprice when headlights turn on dash lights go off i have replaced headlight switch

Keep it simple and is the dimmer switch turned down??? Recheck your dimmer switch to make sure it's turned up when your head lights are turned on.

Thank you for using fixya and keep us posted.

I have a 1995 chevy caprice... the headlights intermitantly go off and on. I have changed the multi fundtion switch and the high/low beam switch but problem still lingers.. any suggestions?

Did you try the head lamp switch. The one on the dash not the steering column?if you have power going in then when you turn the head lights on you should have power going out.Power in would be the red wire and going out would be the yellow wire when you turn the lights on.Does your vehicle have twilight sentinel? This is auto lights where they go on by them selves when you have them in auto mode.Hope this helps.Good luck.
