SOURCE: 2000 jetta need to remove steering wheel

This is not an easy procedure, especially since you've never done it before. With the wheels in the straight ahead position, look at the back of the steering wheel, you'll see two holes. One at 9 o'clock and one at 3 o'clock. You stick a small flat blade screwdriver in the first hole and you pry on the retaining spring while gently pulling on the airbag until it releases. Repeat on the other side. I'm a professional mechanic and the first time I did it, it took me over a half hour to figure it out. Now I can do it in less than a minute. Might want to take it to the dealer.

SOURCE: Need to check turn signal contacts in column,

Best thing to do, honestly, is to purchase a chilton's or haynes manual when you are working around the air bags. Better safe than sorry.

SOURCE: Removing air bags from 2001 Ford Windstar

easy fix.
the drivers airbag comes with the steering wheel. To remove it, snap off the plastic cover at the bottom of the steering wheel. there will be a screw which you need to remove. You will be unscrewing it for quite some time and the wheel will only wobble but eventually it will come off. Disconnect the wires. To replace, put the new steering wheel on trying to align the pin and screw it back in. don't forget to connect the wire. To remove the passenger side, open the glove compartment, squeeze both sides of the back to let the glove compartment fully open. There are 3 nut that you need to remove and a wire. To replace, just do the opposite.
Most likely, you will have to replace the airbag control module also. On this particular year and model, it is located behind the storage compartment below the radio. To remove, unscrew 4 screws (2 on each side of the compartment), disconnect the 12v lighter plug and remove. The computer is located in the very back and has 3 nuts holding it down. There is an arrow on it pointing to the front of the vehicle. Remove the nuts, unplug the wires and get a computer which has the exact same code as yours.
Sometimes, (as was in my case) when the airbag went off, my seatbelts went off and locked in place. To replace, remove the plastic cover off of where the seat belt slides through (near the top of the door post) and unscrew the nut then remove/move aside the plastic trim and unscrew 1 bolt below the seatbelt roll and remove. The last bolt is located between the seat and door. Pick up the carpet and unscrew.

SOURCE: 1999 ford f150, air bag light flashes 27 what

The PAD ( Passenger Airbag Deactivation ) light is inoperable.

Could be unpluged if you have been working around there, or the bulb could be out.

Radio shack sells the same type bulb, if you are good with soldering it is an easy fix.

Air bag deployment 2006 ford escape

You can still drive the car, just cut the air bag off. There is a lot more in repairing a deployed SRS than just replacing the steering wheel.

Driver Side Air Bag Circuit High Resistance or Open. Possible open circuit in air bag rotating contact under the steering wheel referred to as the clock spring contact. Do not attempt to replace this with disarming the system or an unwanted airbag deployment may occur. VERY DAMAGEROUS DEVICE, TRUCT ME ON THIS.

My horn on my 2002 ford explorer went off and would not stop honking until we hit the middle of the steering wheel.....is the horn connected to the air bag or seperate. is it a censor in the steering...

If you have an aftermarket burgler alarm in it i would check wiring where it was installed. If not it is probably a malfunction in the contacts in the steering wheel. If checking the steering wheel unhook the battery and let it sit for a few minutes. It is always good to do this so the air bag will not deploy.thanks

The air bag ligth is on ? because if it is on you may have a problem with the clockspring that is located behind the steering wheel and it's connected with the steering wheel air bag

How do i remove the stock steering wheel so i can put my new one on?

If you have an air bag in your steering wheel - do not try and remove it. An accidental deployment while working on it can kill. If it is safe to work on - there in a steering wheel puller you can buy (or rent) to do the job.

Need to know after air bags are replaced with used ones if any sensors need to be replaced on 2000 expedition

If there was deployment then yes.Which means you would have had an accident.More than likely the front sensors.Check the air bag codes and this should show what sensors are bad. There are also plastic jackets on the steering wheel that should be checked. These are on the bolts that mount the steering column to the dash panel.Hope this helps.Good luck.

Needs key cylinder replacement

This first post is WITH AN AIR BAG:

With Air Bag Before removing the steering wheel, disable the air bag system
Disarming the System To disarm the air bag system, simply disconnect the negative battery cable from the battery. Isolate the battery cable by taping up any exposed metal areas of the cable. This will keep the cable from accidentally contacting the battery and causing deployment of the air bag. Allow the system capacitor to discharge for at least 2 minutes, although 10 minutes is recommended, to allow for the dissipation of any residual energy.

CAUTION Before removing the steering wheel, disable the air bag system (refer to Section 6). Failure to do so could result in accidental air bag deployment and possible injury.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable and disable the air bag system.
  2. Set the front tires in a straight-ahead position.

  5. Remove the steering wheel retaining nut.
  6. Scribe a line mark on the steering wheel and steering shaft if there is not one already.

  1. Remove the steering wheel using a suitable puller.
To install:
  1. To install, align the scribe marks on the steering shaft with the steering wheel.
  2. Ensure the wheel compresses the 2 locktabs on the clockspring.
