My 2013 Audi S5 moonroof's front gasket... where the glass meets the roof, is sinking into the gap, and is not flush any longer. Have any idea what is involved with replacing it with a new gasket ?

SOURCE: Rear window glass has loosened from the roof

well I went to Lowes and shopped for a construction adhesive. I picked PL brand Polyurethane Premium Construction Adhesive because it is (so they say) 3 times stronger than ordinary adhesives.
It is also water and weather proof
Bonds to wood, metal, stone, concrete, masonry, bricks, vinyl, plastics
It came in a tube (you know.. chaulking gun style)

How could it NOT hold glass to fabric??? Thats what I said to myself.. well when we have nothing to lose, we'll try anything.

I put a good bead about 3/8 of an inch in between the glass and fabric, waited 7 days and then razored the excess off the glass. Applied black permanent marker and I'm done. So, it's been about 2 weeks and it's holding well so far.
I'm a betting man, but I won't bet this is going to hold... would you?

SOURCE: Cloth coming away from the rear glass

I have the same problem with my 4 year old A4 cab, the seal has gradually broken over last 6 months and now the whole right & left sides of the window are exposed - tried glueing it myself with no success.

Audi tell me it is possible to have the window stitched into the fabric but I assume this involves replacing the original window with a plastic one and therefore losing the option of heated rear window.

I very much doubt Audi will cover the cost of a new roof once warranty runs out, I find it disappointing (but predictable) that they cannot simply re-seal the fabric to the window.

SOURCE: sliding shade is stuck and won't slide. Glass is

the shade may be related to sunroof not closeing completely, the most common reason is the track is broken , this is the most common reason for when the sun roof doesnt close or jams when opening or closing its always the track breaks, the way to check this is to easy the headliner needs to be dropped and removed and then the glass from sunroof removed then unbolt track and drop down into car and check the track linkage and arms and track and see whats broken, note there are no replacement parts only motor or cable, as far as the parts that always break like an arm on the track this is not replaceable the track needs to be replaced, hope this helps , good luck.

SOURCE: 2006 audi a4 quatro,Ate brake

While replacing the pads the brake system apparently was opened and air got in. The front system needs to be "bled" to get the air out. Here are instructions telling how to do it.

Check the connections to the motor for the moon roof. It's most likely that the motor has gone out, and will need to be replaced.

Moonroof will not vent or seal shut. Why?

It sounds like a mechanical adjustment. A lot of times moon roofs will have adjustment screws to make small alignment adjustments. You may have to move the glass to various positions to access them, but that is where I would start.

Leaking moonroof onto passenger floor

There are gasket replacement kits at local auto parts stores. It's time consuming but well worth it. Prior to starting, inspect the tracks with the moonroof open. There's a chance you have a burr or some other kind of obstruction in the track preventing the roof from properly closing/sealing. A 3 year old vehicle really shouldn't leak from a worn gasket but if the gasket were defective it's possible.

  3. Verify the sunroof glass panel is in the fully closed position.
  4. Loosen the forward attaching screws (2) on each side enough to permit the front of the glass to adjust up or down.
  5. Adjust the front surface of the sunroof glass panel 0.00 mm to 2 mm (0.00 in. to 0.08 in.) below the top surface of the roof.
  6. Tighten the front glass panel attaching screws to 5.5 N·m (49 in. lbs.).
  7. Loosen the rear screws (2) on each side enough to make the rear adjustment.
  8. Adjust the rear surface of the sunroof glass panel 0.00 mm to 2 mm (0.00 in. to 0.08 in.) above the top surface of the roof.
  9. Tighten the rear glass panel attaching screws to 5.5 N·m (49 in. lbs.).
  10. Check for proper fit. If not OK, repeat glass panel adjustment.

    813bc829.gif
  11. Position the mechanism covers (2) over the glass tabs (1) between the locating features and seat fully.
  12. Verify sunroof operation and alignment.
There is a reprogramming from chrysler for the sunroof for recalibrating the sunroof for flushness also. the dealer will charge for this .You might want to do this first and then the adjust if not satisfied with the results.
